Sol… that Marin Alpine Trail isn’t really a bad bike comparably. I don’t really think that specialized is that great of a bike though…

i want something i can ride on the road mostly but be able to go down a curb or uneven pavement without worry of a flat. i have 28s on bigbike and im still worried about going over choppy pavement

lol… I do that on my Caad9! I get what you’re saying though. With that information… any bike you’re looking at is way overkill. Good precise shifting is really only a big deal when seconds matter. You dropping a gear riding around town is no big deal. Alivio stuff… ehhhhh. But deore will be fine. More than fine. And any suspension will do. Any brakes will do. Basically… you could ride a hybrid with fat tires and be fine.
