I use Pearl Izumi booties and use them with spd and look pedals.

bout to pop on some of the road version,
bummed they based the road version of the avenir, not on the xzellium
also their helmets came in, fucking sick
Rode two hours last night in these at about 30-32 degrees with regular cycling socks. My feet were sweating. So far so good.
Ugh. Would rather have mildly cold, non-sweaty feet in below-freezing temps. We all know what happens to sweat when it gets really cold…
second warmest november on record = not much winter cycling yet
that’s why wool socks are good for pulling the sweat away from the feets.

yeah I have a set of sugoi. i figure if I’m going to drop the $$ on gore or assos booties I’d rather not use them with a pair of shoes that will kill them in a season.

Gotcha. Didn’t realize you were going for the higher end side of things.
I just found these: http://www.mavic.com/en/product/footwear/road/footwear/Cyclo-Tour
Nice SPD shoe but with a road upper and no lugs on the outsole
mavic is doing really good things footwear-wise
cant ep cheaper stuff at work
Those touring shoes look pretty good. Wish they had a ratcheting buckle dealie though.
I kinda like not having one, overshoes are easier to deal with then, among other things
fuck it started raining in portland last night
fuck it was cold and wet on the way to work
fuck the next 4 months.
a little early to call that one out, mig.
we’ll see. it’s starting to look a lot like snopocalypse 2008
god i hope so.
that was the best week ever.
riding to work all bundled up, not a car to be seen, and nothing in the parking lot but 6 pairs of cross-country skis sticking out of a snowbank.
i liked that.
2 hours on the bus from 30/bside to Miss/fremont. i read 2 books in a week on the bus.
i tromped 1 day from my house to work and i made it in about 90 min. 12" of snow is no joke.

First actually cold commute of this season this morning. Spent a lot of time looking at my front tire to see if it was getting wet or not.
