we gon pay for this shit.
probably rain from jan 1 to sometime in the middle of sept.
summer 2012 will happen from 3:15 am on a thursday, until the following sunday afternoon when it will start raining again for 10 months.
i’m a skeerd.
did a 200K yesterday/today
started @ 7pm in issaquah washington, about 37 degrees. quickly dropped down to high 20s, then as low as 23 in the wee hours of the morning (wrapped it up at 6:30am)
no rain/snow, some frost/fog in the air which accumulated on the leading edge of clothing/face/components
got some awesome spokes by the end of the ride:
felt pretty good temp-wise. body was smartwool baselayer, wool s/s jersey, poly-wool l/s jersey, and showers pass shell. hat was just a DIY wool cap (no earflaps!). ibex knickers under generic performance poly tights. double smartwool socks in my dragons under some terrible sugoi wind booties. and these fucking fantastic gloves, with the top flipped over it’s like a little sleeping bag for your fingers:
happy times.
i’ve been wearing those for the last couple of years, have to buy a new pair a year, but they’re only $12. that with a pair northface windblockers on the inside take care of anything, plus you can still handle things.
we gon pay for this shit.

Summer of '09? Blistering fuckin 113deg heat July 2x - August 1x, rained or muggy grey every other day
I got my first taste of icebeard this morning.
so, not to inconvenience anyone in pdx today
but i was kind of happy when i felt a few droplets on the ride and then i was like
oh dammit, just thick fog.
i have some seirus ski liners that i like to wear on their own in 40ish degree weather… briefly tried them inside the mittens, actually felt much colder than just using the wool things.
go figure.
got some Schwalbe Marathon Winters coming via wiggle! It hasn’t snowed here in Vancity, instead we get clear and cold conditions with marine fog that comes in every night and covers everything in black ice.
To my total non-surprise those cheap Capo roubaix fabric gloves I got from Department of Goods suck ass. Probably good as liners but that’s about it.
Schwalbe Marathons have been my go-to winter training tire for awhile. Heavy as shit, thick rubber, grippy on fast, wet descents and lasts multi-thousand miles for a full winter’s base training.
That on the rear, G-skin on the front, good to go.
i’ve had 28c marathons on the same wheels for 2.5 years. i think 0 flats, but the rear is starting to get a lil holy and predicta-skiddable ala rando
Joined tark to say that Cannondale winter hat recommended somewhere in this thread is the jam. Purchased a few weeks ago, satisfies all my ear and head warming needs. Would purchase again.
…back to eating JOD.
Come on new guy,

I’ve decided I need a modern fast-ish light-ish geared and fendered bike in my life. Damn you Doug for planting the seed.
Dear Winter,
I miss you and I wish you’d come here to stay.
Why must you tease me for two days and then let fall come back for a week?
Why are you so cruel, Winter?
Love,
Rusty
