I think that spiritually, oil slick pedals are the most Guy Fieri like of flat pedals.

Allen head bolt from the bottom with nut is best.
No only that, but those short pins with the wide/flat heads don’t provide much grip (unless you’re wearing Vans).
I’ve ridden spds on my gravel bike for years, but I don’t get kitted up anymore- I’d rather ride in mountain bike or dirtbag clothes. I have some older fancy carbon soled S-Works boa mtn shoes from when I worked it a shop, but they seem like weird overkill for the riding I do. Does anyone ride gravel on flats? Should I just get some more casual spd shoes? Need recommendations.
T8000 pedals split the difference for me very nicely on a bike that might get used for short or long rides

i ride everything on flats these days. flat pedals look weird on bikes with drop bars to me, but clipless shoes also look weird with normal clothes to me. but i also dont want to wear stretchy clothes.
i think riding anything on flats is fine personally.

This is what I did kinda. Just got some cheap Giro lace ups and they’re plenty stiff enough, comfy, and look far less loud than my old glossy ones with boas. Price isn’t as cheap without pro deal, but not crazy.

Per review of my finances, I seem to have spent too much on dental work, optometry, my barn, and dynamo lights/fork upgrade this month. This’ll have to wait.
