Hey, Fookers -- aka, the pedal thread

Piqued my interest. Maybe I’ll give them a swirl. I always just put the cleat as far back as i can anyway.

Man I haven’t ridden clickers in at least a year, maybe two, but kind of want to buy those in case I ever decide to again.

They’re comfortable enough to wear all day. I think I got lucky on the cleat placement thing though. Also aren’t as stupid looking once you have them on (and I added pink laces)

Ordered some CT5 shoes so I don’t fuck up my $250 carbon sole shoes commuting. I definitely did some damage to those jawns already

I mean if you already have to carve the soles up, what’s a little drilling gonna hurt?

Thinking about getting in on this “group buy” as well

Couldn’t you just file off the one set of raised threads?

adidas just put out a road shoe. They own fiveten but it’s been left largely unchanged, but given the recent work they’ve been doing on their outdoor shoe line (Terrex) I’m always optimistic they could do just that.

I’ve been thinking about that for years now… I’m trying to get a job there, will do it myself.

They did two seasons of Terrex MTB shoes with Five Ten soles. Guess they didn’t sell well enough to keep around.

I feel like companies like this don’t really get the bike market. Or rather how to carve out a place beyond selling some stuff online.

I looked at stocking the Terrex stuff a few years ago. But when I realized it was going to be extra hoops to jump through I bagged the idea.

The Adidas stuff in early 00s did well because they did a full line and worked with industry reps to actually get the stuff on sales floors. It sold well and when it was folded into the Mavic brand it continued to do well.

Dropping one single roadie shoe when the industry is talking gravel just feels half assed and destined to fail.

I get that greedy companies want to sell direct only, but aside from Rapha how many cycling brands are actually succeeding at freezing out IBDs completely and growing?

Like it or not the brick and mortar is the anchor of most cycling ecosystems.

Damn, those look like squash shoes.

Did you see the older style too?

I have both styles of the high tops and really like them!

Ah! Nothing wrong with those, I only saw some more extreme ones.

Why would I ever want a high top cycling shoe that isn’t a waterproof/winter boot?

to add to that, Rapha’s been slowly putting themselves back into stores too. they’ve been pretty selective so far but it is clear that a vast majority of brands need brick and mortars, either as their own shops or through IBDs… and rapha knows as well as anyone that having your own storefronts is hard as hell

Protect yo neck ankles. Also high tops are way cooler than not high tops.

adidas has completely fucked up Five Ten. Availability is non-existent, and they keep pushing out Samba-esque models than nobody wants.

i’ve been needing shoes all year (well, i pushed off trying to order until maybe may) and can’t get anything. have made holes through the sticky layer of my freerider pros.
then they’re discontinuing their prodeal program. so there’s that extra insult to injury.

starting to consider another brand… but… i like them so much.

bruising my ankle bone badly by hitting it on a crank crashing my DJ has to have been one of the more painful injuries to heal from. months later, i still couldnt wear a ski boot or an ice skate or any hard boot without immense pain.
this made me really want a mid-top shoe, but not a ton of options… and generally i prefer “womens” shoes due to narrow feet and so that cuts the options in half again.

As soon as 11.5 Freerider Pros are back in stock, I’m going to stock up. I’ve tried most of the competitors’ shoes, but nothing works as well as the Pros.
