The basket isn’t as big as Wald 139 at the bottom, so the bag is a bit of a tight fit down there (and isn’t all the way seated here). Big enough for the plastic tote I’m sometimes responsible for toting around.

A Swift Polaris fits in the basket a little better (not a really useful bag for the basket tho), but still doesn’t sit at the bottom because of all them there large radius bends. I’m starting to understand what that big hunk of wood at the bottom of @Gary_the_tennis_ball’s basket is all about.

I like the basket. I just dump my backpack in it. Or jacket or whatever. the bottom has the rungs close enough together that nothing tries to fall out.
If I was smarter, this would be the way to go. But no, now I’m thinking of buying a spare basket and trying to figure out a way to mod it into a platform without it getting too wiggly.
TBH I’m still thrilled I found a lock-up bike with a basket for less than the 28 year old mtb without a basket I bought from the local bike non-profit.

There are some surface level blemishes on the bike, however, so I went ahead and filed a claim with Orbea to see if they might kick back some money at you for the damage done during shipment. You’re more than welcome to come grab the bike any time you like, though; pending the warranty status, we will find out how they want to handle things within the next week or so.
