I saw that too and because the bag has its own structure it looks pretty solid on that normal rack.
Do you think the FD is weird with the seat tube being further back like that?
a presumably steeper sta maybe helps with that. eccentric shim in the opposite plane than usual?
edit- braze on. maybe it works just fine enough?
The offset FD would help to compensate for the negative bb drop
Wouldnāt that technically be double butted, but triple cheeked?
or is it the kind of ātriple buttedā that really went thick, thicker, thickest? not reflected in the drawing, but
iām joking about the same picture. a lot of old ātriple buttedā frames arenāt like 1/.8/.5/.8/1 (random numbers fwiw) but meant like 1.2/1/.8 (also random numbers)
yep in almost all cases of 80s/90s steel frames it meant that one end was extra thicc, and an underlying motivation was the asymmetry allowed the tooling to be cheaper/faster/easier
it is cool nowadays for fancy seat tubes, though almost nobody bothers
it needs to be thick at the bottom to avoid emor-failure, and the top is defined by available seatposts, but the middle could be much thinner if you gave a shit
