Hey, what's your Sundeal?

A bunch of years ago a cyclist was refused service at a local burger chain (Burgerville.) She happened to be a white woman with a blog so after she wrote about the experience it was picked up by all the TV stations. The chain relented and established a blanket policy for all locations.

A bunch of other places quietly followed after that though there was similar incident later with a credit union or something?

My 2.5 year old loved it. I would like to see something with more goth.

J/k it was great.

Fuck, the feels.

I wanted/want a katu-e so bad :crying_cat_face:

Well, you know their warranty department is good…

At some point they’ll run out of frames and have to offer you cash or an upgrade to something else they make.

Question for the Sundeal committee. Formerly @johnasavoia’s sundeal (and owner) are coming to visit me in a few days and I’m going to put a basket on it. Did tarck ever reach a consensus on the best way to make that happen? I’ve seen double stems, racktime topit (can’t get one in time), and stock wald hardware… none of the options seem like standouts.

Right now I’m leaning towards bars with a bunch of rise (to get the stem lower), wald 198 (tall), and stock hardware with standoffs at the dropout eyelets to clear the fork legs.

Is anybody’s sundeal is still in-use and basketed?

Looks something like this

Paging @b-roll

The fork eyelets are in a dumb place, takes a pretty long spacer and screw to get any rack stays out wide enough to clear the fork blades, which puts quite a bit of load on the eyelets. A Wald is the best thing to use if you do that, because you can arrange it to hang much of the weight off the bar clamps. If you want to get the basket lower I think a good solution is a second low stem with a short section of old handlebar in it just for the Wald to attach to.

This Origin8 jawn looks promising because of how deep it is, should be reasonable to keep the bars up high while the basket is fairly low. Also good for a double-stem setup.

There seem to be a lot more options for clamp-to-headtube cycletruck kinda racks available (mostly originating with ebike brands as far as Ican tell), which is an area I’d like to experiment with, but don’t have any recommendations at the moment.

My own Sundeal has a slightly altered Bombtrack rack on it. I drilled/rivnutted the inside of the fork blades to get a nice mounting point for the stays.

Yo
I didn’t drive all the way to Bend to deliver the headset spacers 6 months after I said I’d would mail them to have you post pictures with a bunch of janky old headset spacers on my old bike.

Shit, I thought you had the double stem.

Oooh that origin8 thing looks extremely perfect and JBI carries it! Currently the top contender!
