@bward1028 how are you feeling about the nano after some months?
do I want one? how terrible is it off the shelf?

it’s really squirrly to ride. maybe i need longer/shorter stem. i never rode it with the drop bars. it serves a purpose (small, easy to store, easy to throw in car) but i don’t think i’d want to ride it for more than a tarck century at a time.
for 1/3 of the price of a better minivelo, it’s a pretty good deal though.

Good notes. My commute is 10 miles and space is a concern. Maybe need to do a less squirly folder

THINKING EMOJI

Can’t access the link, but is it the same as the reddit bike? It’s kinda like a Dahomton and I dig it.

Kicker is that it ships from California so no tariffnightmare. No doubt lots of it is junk but I might yolo this tomorrow

ATMO the short wheelbase takes a bit to get used to and back when I had one a long-ish stem and drop bars worked great on it. It ended up really similar to my normal 56cm ish bikes in terms of fit. They are technically low-trail geometry and a front rack or some other weight up front seems to help especially if you run flat bars.

I liked it quite a bit and used to commute 7-10 miles on it all the time. Good tires also helped for sure. I’ve owned a couple mini velos and it’s weird like they are still a pain to put into a car trunk or something because not quite small enough, but on the other hand also they are very much noticably smaller when walking through a crowd or rolling into a basement to store or that sort of thing. Also make great loaner bikes.

Excuse to post my dear departed Nano (just after I re-rolled the fenders but had not trimmed them to length yet).

Are there any minivelos that are more off road oriented? Brompton G-line looks nice but way too rich for me. There’s also the guy who makes the custom Brompton rear ends. But would these and any others actually handle fire roads well?

This guy says his Kosda can fit 2.2s

to clarify, not exactly for purchase, but to replace if stolen while locked up

The Kyoot rolly polly is listed as taking 2.6”. Their itty bitty frameset I think was listed as taking 2.5”. I had 2.4” super motos on my itty bitty without an issue. There’s a post somewhere on their insta with more info on tire clearance.
