Goodnight sweet prince. Our time together was too short.

Well, looks like you’ve got a parts kit for one of the @igor minivelos.

are you ok?

saw the other thread. hopefully this gets sorted and you feel okay and end up with a little igor

Oh dude. I hope you’re ok!! What happened?

I was slowing down for a red light and a car behind me was slowing down at a different rate I think. Hit the rear wheel with his front bumper. He stopped behind me, but when I got off the ground and pointed to the curb to tell him to pull over,he took off. Some witnesses got a plate number and I made a report to the cops.

That’d be neat, but I think the frameset is out of my price range right now. Looks like I’m going to pick up the one Josh is selling local.

Is this the first sundeal to have died? One day we will have to come to terms with the mortality of these bikes.

if they find the driver their insurance will pay for a new bike based on replacement (typically retail msrp) value of all parts on it itemized. and for things that you can’t find you can have a bike shop write up a cost to replace estimate. So since you can’t get a sundeal anymore you could say a comparable bike is the VO minivelo.

this is based on my past experiences with this sort of thing in Ohio.

you are also entitled to $ for injury if you go to the dr. The money is, again in my case, based on cost to see the dr + pain and suffering. In Ohio it is very standardized and you get x money for x issue. You can go to court if you don’t think it’s fair but they have a baseline for everything. Like I spent a day in the ER and had an amount of trauma which was like $240 or something not awesome. But its still money you are entitled to for being hit by a death machine.

The sundeal is aluminum, yes? Damn, that’s annoying. Cut the rear triangle down to stubs and bond in a new carbon fiber rear triangle?

Cut rear triangle off and make a tall sun deal. Fill with tiny frame bags

could this work without welding the frames?

like make some 2.5mm steel plates to use as spacers under 24mm BB cups on the upper crashed frame, and weld those to a steel seatpost in the lower frame

fork could be triple tree with four clamp-on crowns, and two headsets

Ya gotta get that bmx tandem someone else posted for wheelbase reasons.

Holy crap, how is that thing so much more expensive than an Orbea Katu?

I blame All City for convincing a generation that all small batch steel bikes should cost almost as much as a custom bike.

$1800 of the complete bike is just the build kit. Considering it’s a 1x with a single mtb shifter and BB5s, that seems extreme. Especially since my complete niner with tiagra 2x10 and BB5s was just about $1800. It’s probably because they insist on loading it with VO parts with a minimal discount over individual retail.
