Home Repair Stands. What have you got?

it didn’t work well, but it held it off the ground long enough for me to repack the hubs.

its my tripod.

Low end park stands are kindof crappy. Go with feedback/ultimate if you are buying one. And no matter how low your budget is at least hold out for one with 3 legs. The 2 leg stands out there are pretty useless in my opinion.

I got a Park PCS9 for Christmas from my lovely bride. I need it only for home use, and it seems it will be fine. Just used it for the first time last night, and it was so nice to be able to get the bike up off the floor to work on it. It’s probably not perfect, but it’s definitely pretty darn good and a huge improvement over nothing. It doesn’t pack down small though, but fortunately I have a spot for it already so it’ll just stay there, ready for use.

The Park PCS-4 is pretty rad. For maximum stability, I like the PRS-4W (I think…), the wall-mounted stand. If you have or can make the room on your wall for it, you will probably not regret getting that one, as long as your landlord doesn’t mind…
I have the PRS-3 olsb, or an older version like it (minus that tray).
Probably the best free gift from ex-girlfriend’s dad. It had been sitting in his garage for a while since her sister’s ex-husband purchased it for some reason, but never really used it. It doesn’t really breakdown, but I just slide it around as needed.

Did see that Bicycling has a $30 homemade work stand in the Jan issue. I didn’t read too in-depth since I have one.
I’m at the library and just happened upon that article. being a great guy i scanned it for the good of tarck (apologies for capcha/ ad page): http://www.filedropper.com/librarynelsonca20091229140411

you can get stands for like $50 shipped on ebay.

but are they any good?
And any specifics on which ones? I hate it when people say “The ebay such and such are good and cheap”. Ummm… there’s lots of different such and suches on ebay… some may be total crap, even for being cheap.

I like the home-made workbench mounted one. They don’t mention it… but looks like it would flip up against the wall. I could totally dig that. Except when needing to wrech “up” and just lifting the entire bike/stand.

Dude buys exclusively crabon and won’t shell out for a decent stand?

This one and the Bicycling mag one seem suspiciously similar.

my buddy and I own this thing together:

I dig it.

How are you supposed to buy exclusively crabon if you waste your money on stands :colbert:

theres a Park stand with tool tray for $75 in the local CL. i’m deabting if i should pick it up, i’m kinda broke at the moment

do it, you won’t regret it (especially with the tray)

Do it!

Two Park ones, PCS1 and PCS10

I like this one a lot, but it is a tad short. I may try and find an extender tube

This one is actually my FIL’s. Very versatile

I have a spin doctor, but it kinda sucks sometimes, would prefer a feedback. not a fan of any mobile park stand, just the HxC shop ones
