I get dropped by old dudes wearing hi-vis vests and campy dayglo bodysuits

I just did a quick google search on “Weyerhaeuser land” and it seems like a private entity leasing “land for recreation”

I don’t like it one bit.

Smart people don’t strava their shortcuts.

I’m a strava user, but I’m also very much into not posting my secret cutty routes on the internet.

Can’t blame anyone for doing the same.

Weyerhauser company bought a shitload of land in this area 130 years ago, and they still own it.

Weyerhauser gates their land and patrols, a little. You need a permit for access, and you can get caught and get to deal with a tresspassing citation. There’s other timber companies who have a similar approach, and it’s mostly to keep the local tweakers and poachers out, and keep random adventurers from having problems with an active logging operation. The locals don’t seem to be actively hostile to bikes, not like your typical suburban Republican is.

Smart tresspassers don’t post to Strava

Guarantee nobody at Weyerhaeuser will know/gaf if you Strava your bike adventure behind their gates.

The locals who lived in the direct vicinity were really nice. One lady asked if she wanted ya to have her get her keep out and drive us over. It was hilarious

Fucking this.

I try not to trespass as much as I used to, but it still happens. There was a discussion about some bandit trails on private property in a local facebook group. Since I’m mostly an internet troll and provocateur, I made some snarky comment about “prove it” or something.

I received PMs with the strava global heatmap, clearly indicating the bandit trails on private property.

There’s a lot of dumb fuckers around here.

Yeah, the locals are pretty friendly.

i asked a bunch of roofing dudes in the area (who were local) if we’d be able to make it through on the road and the guy goes
“on that bike? nah”
my co riders giggled more than he did

You want the Weyerhaeuser “motorized” permit which comes with a gate key. Permits go on sale in May: https://www.weyerhaeuser.com/timberlands/recreational-access/northwest-region/

The licensing of our public lands at work

They’re not public lands. It’s the same as you selling permits for people to ride across your yard.

Weyerhouser used to be a lot more open with their land, as you could just use them without permits, at least in areas not being actively logged. However, that may have just been for the tree farm just north of Snoqualmie. That particular bit of land was sold to another, much more restrictive logging company that sold expensive permits for a few years. But now I read that they’ve loosened up there. I also read a rumor that the long term plan for the company that bought that particular farm from Big W was to damn the N. Fork Snoqualmie. That plan seems so doomed to failure I have a hard time believing it, but who knows.

Sounds like a bummer man, I support smart trespassing in these instances.

This was true across all their land, but it’s not true any more.

pretty sure its because dipshits were being dipshits
edit: you can’t do the gravel descent from cz-trail toward 47 anymore because of their operation

First 200k this year (second century+).

10:47, waited on 4 mechanicals from others, and I did have lunch.

The nordavinden gets it done for sure, goddamn. No issues there.

Earned 0 points because “not sanctioned”

It’s also likely that they saw this as a possible profit center in the future. Folks are riled up that the company gets large property tax breaks on resource lands but still can charge recreation fees (which some argue should change the tax status of the land.)

First 300 of the year, first long ride on my nordy. It planed. My chain fell off the rd’'s lower jockey wheel about twenty times and also the sugino ox’s almost fell off. Both problems due to incompetent assembly by me I think. 4500 meters climbing, 11:45 B(

Same experience with the OX cranks. You have to torque them to the spec or they will come lose.

1145 ain’t bad tho
