Dammit I need a seat post clamp that doesn’t slip.
And a larger mudflap.
That transmission corridor is Minnesota levels fucked.
love it, using a sketchball ultralight alu frame. The builder rightly recalls that these things didn’t last long, on the market or under racers. The conventional wisdom was that it was a single season frame.
Hy rode in short sleeves after work and didn’t regret it! Good old underbikey fun. Some double track/deer trails and logging roads.
Bubbles.
OMG this is my first winter hambiking and I didn’t realize “crust season” is a thing.
Friends, it is so much fun! Maximum freedom, the ability to just go wherever you want, no trails to stay on, no worries about vegetation stomping.
As pictured there’s ~48" of snow under me.
Did we get a full report on the Marino? How are you liking it?
I think this was my third ride on it. Most everything has been under snow until recently. I’m still dialing it in and still finding my fitness, but so far it’s been good.
I think I’ve got the suspension setup. I need to make an adjustment to my stack to get more weight over the front wheel. Hopefully a few weeks of warmer weather will uncover some of the rowdy trails, so I can give it a real workout.
[edit] Strava finally finished chewing on my ride and I PR’d on one of the trails I use for skills practice. Yay? I guess it’s faster than all my previous bikes.
rode to the home depot and wegmans. got lightbulbs and utility knives, a modicum of parsley, some sushi for snack, and a 6 pack.
Hmmm, I can ride down to Edmonds pretty easily. I really need to ride my bike and sleep in a tent this year.
Hit me up this summer!
50 miles, 5600’ elevation gain on the coffee grinder and it felt awesome. Lots of gravel and beautiful views. Only an hour from Philly! Finished the ride and wished I had ridden harder but also I pushed my friends a little too hard so this wasn’t the ride for that.
Yesterday: a group ride up Mount Hamilton
most of the gang started out in San Leandro and was ~45 miles in by the time they got to the base of the mountain. Meanwhile, I had contemplated rolling out at 5:15am to ride 30 minutes to BART to meet up with them for the 6:30am group rollout, or… nah fuck it roll out of the house at 10:30 or so and just ride the 1 hour from my house to meet them at the base of the mountain.
Being several hours of riding fresher than everyone else meant that for once I was the fastest climber, so I got a bunch of good photos from switchbacks above
canned gatorade in the vending machines at the top…?
We’d been planning to head down the backside and take Mines Rd to BART in Pleasanton, but by the time we got to the top it was late enough in the afternoon that we wouldn’t have made BART until way, way after sunset. I was perfectly happy to head back down the front, because that meant I could grab some corndogs on the way home before dark
It also meant that I was fresh enough to go and do Summit Road again on Sunday! This time we started from up at the Summit Store instead of climbing all the way up from San Jose - only a ~50 mile loop instead of 90+. Not a ton of pictures today because Manny likes to keep the group moving.
I’m… pretty sure this C4 wasn’t parked abandoned off the side of Summit in February?
Sausages in Corralitos
both weekend rides were perfectly reasonable on their own but ~115 miles and ~11,500ft over the weekend has my knees pretty toasted
Is this some kind of tarck hazing that has given me two flats in as many days after not having one in over a year?
Do you have time to talk about our round creature savior, Orange Seal?
do you have any ideas where the time skipping may have started and ended?
Inside tubes?
