Someone organized a DC-Baltimore-DC century ride today. I made it half way and took the train home.

Monstercrossin’ in Moab. It was wet and cold but at least that kept the sand mostly packed down

Found a 30 mile rail trail that was really nice to ride on. Too bad it’s an hour out of town.
It was also cold. In the low 40s when we started. There was still frost on the ground in the low spots. On the way home, the sun was setting and it got a lot colder. I was struggling and had to stop multiple times to adjust clothes. Cornelia is probably getting me a good wool base layer because she thinks I’m always underdressed for cold rides (she’s right).

We found an awesome bench in the last vestiges of sunlight to stop for a break and turn around.

Pyroclasts in the ears, fog in the sound, nice day for riding around. It was barely above freezing this morning when I left the house and a hoodie + Houdini windbreaker were nice but now I’m way too hot at noon. Dropped the stem some more and the height feels good but maybe another 20mm of reach would be nice.

I did that back in like 2009 or 10. It was called the Monument to Monument ride. The Baltimore folks rode to DC, the DC folks then rode back with them to B-more then the DC folks rode home. We made it Baltimore and halfway back before my buddy crashed real hard and we caught a lift back home the rest of the way from a friend that had a mechanical before leaving the district and bailed.

i assume by that point you already are all the donuts

No but I drank a ton of coffee and ate some apple crisp my homie brought

That sounds pretty neat, would love to meet some of the Bmore folks. This was a little something a guy from DC has organized for maybe 3 years on Black Friday. Route could probably use a little tweaking but I think some of the shitty sections are unavoidable

@Smitty2k1 We knew a few because some of the more dedicated bike polo players used to come down to DC on a semi regular basis to play after their club kinda fell apart.

Didn’t want this little guy to feel excluded so I rode this today and got a lot of snot on it somehow

I was wondering why my saddle felt awful then realized a couple hours later I had it slammed forward and I can’t remember doing that

Cant hurt to try it out

I have, albeit very briefly. Thankfully/unfortunately I sold the only wheel that would work with that fork. Yet here I am pricing its replacement…

2.5 hr full Moon MTB with hero dirt. Was so good.

I didn’t take any pictures, but I rode the lakefront trail into a stiff, icy wind out of the north west. As I rode my five mile stretch of trail, I passed by at least a hundred tent encampments. I’ve never seen so many people living in the parks before. There are more every day. Our city is currently flooded with South American refugees, but these aren’t them. These are Chicagoans who’ve fallen on hard times and been failed by our crumbling society. Which to me is a separate and even more disturbing aspect of the global societal collapse that we’re all living through. If we don’t even take care of our own, what chance do the refugees have?
There but for the whim of happenstance go all of us.

I see that a lot riding through downtown Atlanta, it’s pretty sad
