There’s a big group of house sparrows nesting in the dryer vents of the building next door.
About a year and a half ago they hung a swing stage to get at the vents to pull the bird nests out but then they didn’t make the vents bird proof so the birds immediately came back! Insane!
Anyway, those birds love to hang out in the viburnum and service berry trees in my front yard and I think they’re cute.
i haven’t been to the upstate ny bird sanctuary at cornell in a while but you can watch the webcam live. right now there are no birds there at 7:15pm when it’s freezing and snowing

Finished my PhD. Celebrated with all-day ride in the sandhills. 25 miles of sandy doubletrack at 68 degrees on 3 inch tires and not another soul. Heavenly

Oh this sounds a lot like our “gravel” routes. What bike were you on?
2.5 hours on the MTB today. Bike felt really great - that always seems to happen when I’m waiting on new parts to arrive.

Put fat wheels back on, but there wasn’t quite as much snow as I had hoped. Still nice to get out and spin legs.
