I didn’t find any sort of commuting thread so I’m posting it here.

WTF: back to office full time this week 5 years after COVID.
HY: so many bike commuters. They actually added some more bike racks halfway through the week. It is the US DOT after all.
HY: 14 miles round trip a day plus a couple on the ebike doing daycare and school pickup means the most miles I’ve biked in a looooong time. Slept so hard and ate so many snacks all week.

Been a bleak winter. Found out we were having a little boy in November and sup had a miscarriage in late January. Total whiplash, complete burnout at work, and the dismantling of the few remaining positive parts of our federal government made for a less than pleasant (or healthy winter). Despite the headwinds and mud causing me to push in the high gear downhill I got out there this weekend on the mudmobile. It’s the closest I’ve felt to being “myself” in months. Hope you’ve all been as well as you can be.

Put some knobby tires on the Cinder Cone a couple weeks ago and it’s been a blast to ride. Someone was giving away grapefruits and I ended up on some gnarly singletrack that required some hike-a-biking but the ocean views made it all worthwhile.

Nice! How much of the Lakefront did you ride?

Rode from Hyde Park up to downtown Saint Patty’s madness then west over to Oakley and Lake for the gig Saturday. Then over to Bridgeport and back to Hyde Park in the rain around midnight. We had the moose righteous tailwind when going northbound, and it didn’t turn into a headwind on the way home. Good stuff.

Hell yeah. Is that the trail down to Palos Verdes Drive from the top of the hill in PVE? I’d know that view anywhere. Amazing the quality of the trails down there.

fuck that’s terrible, I’m sorry.

Spot on. I’d heard of this trail but didn’t get around to riding it until yesterday. It was spicier than the other area trails and “gravel” roads on the north side of the peninsula. Despite being underbiked, the views were lovely and it’s nice to say I’ve ridden it.
