Just can’t get enough of the two person Friday fixed gear 15 mile multiple beer stop group ride.
I haven’t been on my bike at all lately, but got up really early and got to see a great sunrise.
It took like an hour for my legs to warm up and actually be able to make power. I thought something was wrong with my power meter but no, my body just wasn’t cooperating.
Did a quadruple Tarck century on the Vaya.
Looped around two nearby lakes, staying as close to the water as I could and exploring.
Drove out to NAS Point Mugu and said goodbye to my truck
I haven’t rode on PCH since years before the fire, pretty mindblowing
I’m in Denver for an ultimate tournament and getting acclimated by mountain biking around Golden with my cousin.
jealous
A Dixie Mountain loop was in the cards for me today. There was something going on at the grange, which meant I huffed a lot of dust.
The phlox is all done for the season , replaced by these purple flowers that are some sort of pea.
There’s a new cafe by my house that I’ve been meaning to check out. Four hours on the bike seemed like a good reason to stop. My kiddo rode over with me.
Rode 87 miles this morning up to North Carolina. I started at 5:45 to try and beat the heat, but the last two hours were still miserably hot. Right after I got home I got a notification for a heat advisory.
Towards the end of my ride I came around a blind turn and a very large black bear was crossing the road about 30 feet in front of me. I’ve never been that close to one before – every single hair stood up on my body and I was tingling for the next few minutes.
No pictures of the bear.
Had a simillar time here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UDEh1ieJ3ctqeU5s8
some points it felt like 35%
Woo hoo ! You dont run into many people who have been to that part of the world.
Trying to go back to ride it in it’s entirety, but maybe not this week.
lil guardian of the mountain
it was humid and 34 degrees C
Did a new ~5 Tarck century loop on Sunday, this was the only shot I got worth posting.
A ferry that’s free for bikes crossing the archipelago west of downtown.
Ultimate tournament is over. Finished 8th in the old, old guy division. Now I have a few days of riding around Colorado.
My cousin rode around Golden borrowing camping gear from his friends and strapped it all to his gravel bike with Voile straps. He looked like some sort of hobo. We rode from Vail Pass to Homestake Reservoir with a side quest to Camp Hale. We camped at Homestake and rode home the next day. The Hudson Valley is nice but, damn, Colorado is beautiful.
We’ve done the RP Kidical Mass ride so many times now that Roli has his “kidical mass friends” that he gets to see on the third saturday of every month! It’s really fun.
There was an old guy there riding this Schwinn that he claimed to be the original owner of. He was wearing a Mack’s Bikes shirt.
Talking of old bikes, we gave this old guy this old blue bike that I pulled out of a dumpster and I saw it parked at the marina when I was launching the work boat
Glad I chose the metric century option instead of a planned imperial. Looking at the heat index forecast I didn’t think it would be too wise to do my longest ride of the year on one of the hottest days so far.
