Been going up to Southern Indiana into Hoosier National Forest for 40 or 50 mile gravel rides on Sundays with a friend. Lots and lots of hilly gravel roads in the woods and trails and fire roads that can be mixed in.
![image|375x500]Ugh, I know… I have new bars/stem/brake levers on the way and will do it then
has anyone ever done artisanal / sculptural steerer tube cuts? It seems like the kind of thing a Dear Susan or Cherubim might have gotten into. It also seems mildly terrifying to actually ride.
Like cut at an angle such that the cut is parallel w the top tube or something like? Then maybe a stem that matches that angle too, seems very specialized
or like a skyline or chess pieces or something. I mean I don’t invoke Dear Susan and Cherubim in the same post lightly
really have not ridden much beyond commuting all year, trying to do 20 milers each weekend, last week’s wasn’t picturesque but this one was.
I love that bike so much.
Went on a solo overnight to Illinois Beach State Park. 90 miles round trip on mostly crushed gravel trails. Meanders through the ritzier neighborhoods of Chicago’s north side. Didn’t take any pictures of the park (beautiful) or my camp site (cozy) but the route is 10/10 so I’ll definitely be doing it again. Maybe with @Rusty_Piton and @spaghetti??
Baha’i Temple was pretty rad looking.
my fall schedule might be too chaotic but im definitely interested. very curious about crushed gravel on the northshore, whered you get the route
Robert McCory bike path and Green Bay trail are like 60-70% gravel. Nothing technical and obviously all flat.
Did a solo night run after work. 90km and was pretty cooked by the end. Bivy’ed in a playground, caught the 5am train into work today. Made a quick stop home to shower and food. Good morning tarck.
What is that animal
Is a Wombat:
It’s adorable!
They are not commonly seen, but leave ample evidence of their passage, treating fences as minor inconveniences to be gone through or under, and leaving distinctive cubic feces As wombats arrange these feces to mark territories and attract mates, it is believed that the cubic shape makes them more stackable and less likely to roll, which gives this shape a biological advantage. The method by which the wombat produces them is not well understood, but it is believed that the wombat intestine stretches preferentially at the walls. The adult wombat produces between 80 and 100, two-centimetre (0.8 in) pieces of feces in a single night, and four to eight pieces each bowel movement.
Somebody has some knowledge about this. They also determined that the average mammal empties its bladder in 21+/- 13 seconds. Oh and the rest of the winners are nuts.
LOL
