I went for a ride today, here are some pictures (old)

So windy today

Sprung brooks

Why the fuck

Why the fuck not?

Drop bars take weight off your ass. Sprung brooks weighs a ton. Springs are totally superfluous on a drop bar bike where you can get light on the bike without sketchy handling.

That’s why the fuck not.

Meh. Hate if you want but I like it. It works for me. It’s actually ridiculously comfortable. If you haven’t tried a springer brooks, you shouldn’t really talk shit. I have birthing hips etc and this is the first saddle that I’ve found that works for me.

I’ve used a b17 for the last 7 years. I like the Brooks shape: I’ve tried the spring version and found no additional comfort unless the saddle is on some upright cruiser.

You’re the guy who has to pedal the bike: put whatever you want on it, but if your looking for approval from the tarck hive mind for a springer brooks on your road bike you’re not gonna get it.

I’m not sure if you realize it but I’ve been here before.

I originally joined in 2008 and had over 14k posts. I’ve been to the end of tarckbike and back.

Yes I know. The fact that you still engage the trolls puzzles me.

Not trying to be a dick but the noob hate thing doesn’t really apply here.

Ddytdy sent me a black brooks b17 that has seen a good bit of seat time. Its currently on my blue bike.

What trolls? You trolling me?

Edit: my last post on this subject, if you noticed no difference between the b17 and a springer brooks saddle (I think mine might be the female version since its wide as hell) then more power to you. I like the look and feel of mine and that’s what matters to me.

Really feelin the “new” Gazelle, that thing just wants to go! Even though cockpit is 2cm to short coz only quill stem I have at the moment.
His Moser is pretty sw8 as well.

A little Midwest turn out to Lodi and back. After three straight days of Intentionally Riding, this route was not quite as easy as it was the first time.

What counts for mountain rides in the Madison area:

i did not take a bunch of pictures, and also broke my 35mm camera with a nearly finished roll inside during the ride…

but andrew sqrl and i went up to the snoqualmie tunnel for an overnighter this weekend

lots of this:

some of this:

(that’s riding through a 2.3mile long pitch black tunnel)

On my way to the Point83 ride on thursday I tried to get aero by tucking down to the cycletruck basket and heineyd myself

Never hold onto a part of your bike that isn’t connected to the steering!

I hit a pothole just after transitioning and started veering wildly, sailed straight over the sidewalk curb and crashed up a flight of exterior stairs

Dented the rim sidewall and twisted the extrusion, pinched 8 holes in the tube and 2 in the tire, smashed the multicolored basket into a bunch of pieces…

…and landed on my ankle (other wounds unrelated):

Felt OK at first and rode away after fixing the flat, but the swelling ramped up and I had to pedal one-footed so I got a ride from a truckfriend. Picked up some crutches, ice, and compresses on my way home.

Sprained the hell out of it and it swelled massively, that’s subsided and now it can start actually hurting:

So fun, definitely want to go back again soon
The photoset is basically just a million photos of Yummy Gooey poppin’ his bike campin’ cherry (could’ve fooled me)

Almost did this on a bike share bike on a busy Warsaw street last year. Rack is attached to head to iirc. Wtf.
