actually you need
chalk
shoes
upper body strength
that was rough
My wife climbs v2’s. Your legs are stronger than your arms. Make them do as much of the work as possible.
yeah, but that shit is easier said than done. you need to have more technique than just knowing to “use your legs.” cause i’m a newbie who knows that, but my arms still end up doing too much work.
I’ve been meaning to reactivate my membership at the local rock gym here, but haven’t had any spare cash. Shit’s fun, though I’m more into bouldering and traversing than anything else, which is perfect for a rock gym.
Upper body strength is overrated. It’s easy to haul on big juggy holds. Once the routes get more difficult, there won’t be any big juggy holds. At that point, you’re going to need technique, hand strength, and foot strength. I miss my foot strength the most. A couple years ago I fell about 15’ and fucked up my ankle which put me out for about 6 months. I’ve never been as good since then.
Man, now I’m gonna dust off my harness and 510’s and head to the gym. They just finished a new rock wall, it’s pretty easy compared to some places, but still quite nice. As for this forum, I like it alot!! I’ve met a few guys from here, we ride almost every weekend, and none of them make me want to punch them in the dick. So I’m happy!!
