Anyone have an inside line on getting a lightweight low power front hub motor?
A guy in our bikepacking “club” crashed hard last year and suffered a TBI that left one side of body sort of “slow”. So it takes a couple pedal strokes mostly with one leg to get the other one up and pedalling. He has a bunch of bikes so we’d like to see if giving him a little boost would help him out.
Bafang has the HF-H600 at OEM which looks perfect at 36v, 250w, and 1.7kg, but I can’t find one for sale.
The Swytch concept looks good too, but I don’t want to be locked into their electronics.
Most other front hubs seem to be 1000w MUP drag racing units.
Definitely read their full product info page if you haven’t already. They can have some issues that may or may not be important for what you’re trying to do.
Loving these things here in Vietnam. They seem to be everywhere. Looks like they take a hammering and respond well to acessorization. No idea who makes them.
always been here. never mentioned anything because i dont want anything to change!
if i am honest i have a whole lot more photos to share from different vendors at sea otter this year that won’t make the site. benno brought out a custom-built boost that rules.
Hi e-bike people. I don’t know anything about electrifying a bicycle but I have a friend who is graduating medical school and starting residency in Oregon, so is looking for an e-bike. Did some research but figured I would also consult the hivemind.
I’m hoping to suggest something mid-drive that is actually, like, good and reliable for someone who isn’t a tinkerer or mechanic. Hoping to avoid front suspension, this is a person who is very confident/capable on a bike, just wants the assist for showing up to surgical residency shifts fresh. Must be under 3k, hoping to target around 2k. Are there any better options at this price point than the Marin Sausalito E1? Looks like you can get last year’s step-through model on sale under 2k, which is a lot of bike for the money it seems.
