Strong recommendation to not buy. Bad bike worse company.
Get a tern or r&m from upway.
Also just sold a Marin larkspur-e that I was really impressed with

Iāve got a benno ejoy Iād be willing to part with
I guess I need to test ride a Tern again but I just hated the one (very short) test ride I took. It didnāt feel at all like riding a bike, it felt like operating a machine. I know people lovvvvvvvvve them though.
how long is your quick haul overall? I see the NBD is 158cm but no measurement on their spec for the QH
Yeah, Iām holding on to it for the time being to make sure the Quick Haul will give me more of it after the honeymoon phase. Also itās probably a terrible time to try to sell a bike. If you werenāt 800+ miles away Iād say come borrow it for a few weeks.
The Boost has been a good bike overall, just ended up being a larger bike than I want to deal with when 95% of my ebike use is just commuting to work. The reach has also felt very long even for me with long long arms. A shortie 32mm stem helped that but I never got around to doing other bar/stem experiments to see if that helped even more. I like the front utility tray and bag, but that has made it more difficult to lock up on the few terrible bike racks Iāve had to use. Taking the utility tray off has made it feel smaller and easier to move around inside, but it was always missed when it was off the bike. Even though it handles a bit weird when Iāve been switching back and forth between bikes, Iāve liked the RemiDemi more than the Boost.
Interesting. Do you recall what model you rode? I think the relative lightness of the Quick Haul compared to the other ebikes Iāve ridden makes it feel a little more fun to ride for me.
Itās just under 173cm from the panniers to the front wheel. The panniers sit about 1.5cm further back from the rear of the rack.
GSD. I bought an Xtracycle edgerunner instead
I donāt know what the pricing on Upjoy looks like, but Universal has this Benno on pretty deep discount.
Gonna rent a Quick Haul from a goofy shop on my block for a month and see how I like it
Iād like to test ride one of those sometime just for fun, same for the HSD. Too bad the local dealer only had two Terns on the floor, a class 3 Quick Haul and an Orox.
Jealous of big city life
the edgerunner is in one of the nicest riding bikes Iāve ridden
One slightly weird thing about the Quick Haul is that the Speedlifter Classic they spec for bar height adjustments uses a special shim between the shaft and the stem and that shim is supposed to be matched to the stack height of the stem. If youāre going to do any stem dithering and that stem has a different stack height than the stock stem youāll need to buy a new shim and you have to make sure you buy the shim that matches the diameter of Speedlifter shaft on the bike (they have models with different shaft diameters for steel and aluminum steerers). I think the stock shim is 25.4mm ID and 39.5mm tall. The dimensions are etched on the shim, so pull the stem and double check that before ordering.
The shims arenāt that expensive but the only places I found online that sold them are all in Europe. When I looked a few weeks back, bike24 had some of them and Hollandbikeshop.com had them all and was 5⬠less for shipping. Maybe a Tern dealer in a big city has a better source.
You can upgrade it to a Speedlifter Twist that lets you rotate the bars 90 degrees for storage.
English Speedlifter manual here:
I wish they still sold the Free Radical kit. I loved mine and never should have sold it. Imagine a modern one with TA and disc mountsā¦
Spliced the correct plug onto the wire and cut this into my rear hydro line. Lever flipping the regen is nice.
Wanted to try that but ended up finding a whole Magura MT5e lever/hose/caliper kit on sale for just $100 so it seemed a no brainer
Never handled magura but all I hear is that the bar clamp is fragile because it is plastic and you should torque it to like finger tight.
at āthe most maguraā the bolts are really torx wood screws into the plastic
I think the biggest weak point on those is the main lever pivot also being in plastic so the whole thing can explode if you drop your bike and tag the lever blade
I was going to send Grin an email about some questions I had. Found a message from them in my inbox that they found a fault in one of the components (superharness) that I bought that might be causing some of the issues I wanted to ask about. they asked if I wanted money back to keep the old one or a new replacement. they got the new one to me in three days.
they have what you want on the EU site but not the ca site for some reason?
