It's Electric! A thread for e-bike things.

This is my favorite ebike on tarck, maybe off tarck as well

Rode the Tern Quick Haul to work. This ebike thing is easy. I rode mostly in Eco and bumped it up to Sport on a couple of the long hills. Pretty nice but I’m still unsure if I like the Quick Haul. I definitely like throwing my stuff into panniers and have a little motor though.

I thought you were going to build something?

What is the e-homercar?

I still crave the dither, but I rented a Quick Haul from a shop on my street for the time being.

Having an appliance ebike leaves more dithering bandwidth for other bikes.

But also don’t listen to me too much because…

More parts have been replaced since then (but now it has more than 100 miles).

Canyon Precede-On 5. I hate the integrated stem/bar and internal cabling, but the lower BB, class 3 Bosch, and extra tire volume for 2 bongs was hard to resists.

I dig it. High tech dirtbag vibes

Incredibly well-curated bike. I love it.

This was the thing I built my wife. Parts bin build. Man it hauled but it was too scary. 500 watts and 19 kgs. Sold it to a workmate for 1 grand.

You know, I wouldn’t call it scary, but it’s crazy how un-bikey even a slow ebike can get when you crank the boost up. I usually don’t use the ā€œturboā€ mode on my bike but I needed to get to an appointment 5 miles away yesterday and didn’t want to be soaked in sweat so I let er rip. Felt weird tbh! Sure it’s nice getting over hills faster but I also felt like I was needing to brake for corners more often than I would if I didn’t have the extra boost behind me. I don’t think ebikes are dangerous per se but I gave me a glimpse into what it must be like if you ride an ebike like most normies do lol…

Well, those Bafangs are cadence sensored so its all or nothing. I hated riding it around town, at low speeds it was a real handful. I nearly flipped it at the lights once.

It’s … Something?

Before I looked into it in earnest and bought one, this is what I thought all E-kits were

Saw this and needed to share:

Strap your ride in, and roll it around your garage to get to the ebike from all angles. Then, when you’re done, pack it all down back into its bag, and tuck it out of the way until you need to hog-tie another ebike into submission.

@Crustradamus can we get a 6-month review on the Riese and Muller

Not in my budget right now but I am hopefully freeing up some garage space soon

The fancy e-bike dealer in town does R&M and Urban Arrow and there are some used R&Ms on marketplace (still outside my budget, but my budget and their need to sell may converge eventually)

I feel like my order of preferences, with zero experience, is E-Bullitt > R&M > Urban Arrow but getting a Bullitt here is pain and paying for R&M is also pain lol

I’m craving a Load 60 or 75 but it’s so far out of budget and so much bigger than I can probably tolerate in our building it makes me bitter when I see some happy parent toodlin down the road on theirs

It’s fricking awesome. Got the front-facing kid seat and it is a pleasure shoving the child into it. Suspension front and rear on a long bike like this is a game changer. I found mine for 5k. Did have to put a lot of work into it to make it nice, but not 10k worth of work. Maybe a couple hundred bux.

I’ve seen them pop up on upway for like 7k. Also here’s this one in Austin that they will probably sell you for 6 if you ask nicely: Redirecting...

Lmao I had seen that one you linked before, I am 99% sure it is stolen. No idea why they’d post the S/N in that case. Best case scenario is it came out of an abandoned storage unit.
