Last time I was at my old bike shop, and they were showing me a mailer they got that day, right after Interbike. Some Taiwanese company (want to say something like Kratek, but I know that’s wrong) was offering carbon road bits for DIRT CHEAP. Frame for $250, fork for $50, bars, seat posts, and stems for $25, and some other stuff. No minimum order either. I’m assuming they are a manufacturer for other companies or something, like the company that owns the plants for Giant trying to sell off some stock maybe, or some story along those lines.

I’m SUPER tempted to place an order. Maybe you other shop dudes know what I’m talking about?

Not Giant. They own their own carbon factory.

Dunno can’t say. Some factories are good some suck. But i know a good portion of the top tour de france teams are making all their top level frames in China. So made in China isn’t the problem. But also consider the fact that when you don’t have a brand name you arn’t really accountable to anything anyone. If those Planet X frames started to fail, they would have to deal with their rep going to shit. Whereas OP doesn’t. He’d just start up another Ebay page.
Guys like this are really fucking up the equilibrium tho. It’s good for the end user, but for the old dinosaurs, it’s very threatening.

The guy who used to import CSK bikes into the US brought a couple of these in a few years ago when he was also dealing with Karbona. I saw one of his friends racing one at the L.A. world cup that year. Doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it providing its the same bike not just the same mold. I suppose the layup and choice of fibers could be completely different though.

im actually gonna get one of those knock off prince frames in the near future, we’ll see how it goes when it comes in .
