“alex rims - $150 (Torrington)
Set of alexrims, if you know what these are then you know what they retail for.”
yeah guy, I can totally tell what those are. and I’m sure they retail for a lot of money, like all alexrims.
They need to take a lesson from Dre and call them “Rims by Alex” if they’re going to pull that move.
“FIXIE - Fixie, light frame, new pedals and new chain, runs great! $100”

Funny thing is, that ebaumann dude who started the thread is constantly flipping shit. Hypocrite much?
When I asked Selena Griffith, the bike’s industrial designer, if she had any aspirations for the bike to be anything more than a showy cruiser she responded “It pretends to be nothing but”. And went on to say “It is a ‘look at me’ product which can be tailored to your individual
aesthetic needs … add lights, colour, change shape, etc…”
It’s almost a pity to have to review the bike’s performance. Its reason for existence seems to have hardly anything to do with ‘normal’ cycling – the test bike was heavy, slow, noisy and impractical.
The wood bikes are lighter than the polycarbonate. 9 to 11kg for the wood bikes, 15 to 18kg for plastic.
On the road progress is slow and noisy. The most annoying noise comes from the electronic gear selector. The test bike was equipped with a four speed Shimano Auto-D. It changes gear with an electronic beep. The novelty of the auto shifts wears off quickly but there’s a manual setting too, although the gears still change with a beep.
The other noises are frame creaks, especially from the bottom bracket area when climbing hills
Going downhill was another matter. The brakes are only just adequate. The rear drum feels a bit snatchy – the pull wasn’t even, and the front calliper brake is pretty feeble.
Prices for the frames start at about $1250 Australian Dollars (around £460, Euro 750, US$675) for plywood, $200 (£75, Euro120, US$110) more for polycarbonate. A complete bike, optioned up like the prototype, would come to around A$2075 (£770, Euro1250, US$1100) in wood, A$2275 in plastic, and A$200 more to have the factory assemble the frame. All prices not including sales taxes and/or any shipping, import duties, etc.
So the I-Cycle is not cheap, not fast, not light and not like any other bike you’ve ever seen. You’re paying for the fun quotient, to own something unique, and quite simply, to attract one hell of a lot of attention to yourself.
eh, if i sold something to a tarcker at a friendly price and saw it on ebay right away for more money, i would be bummed. but that in itself is the reason we’re total dicks to newbs in the marketplace forum.

Eh.
As long as there’s no false advertisement, and if it’s not something of sentimental value that was only sold out of necessity, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it. Once it’s been sold and out of my hands, it’s out of my mind.
edit @aerobear
edit 2: also holy fuck those see-thru bikes are melting my brain
