I had some fun annotating the pic. short of the roller it should all be kitbashable from bike parts bins.
other notes:
It wouldn’t embed for me, but the wayback machine has the pictures you’re looking for.

I considered doing this to the radlawn, but with a large bore pulley slipped over the haulin colin crown rack strut. Then I put on vees and flatbars and filed the noodle stop to slip under the strut easier and called it good.
Looks to me like the shaft for leading to the pulley is the weak point. That doesn’t bend a lot under load? If it could somehow be extended to that booster so it’s supported on both sides that would really strengthen the system a lot.
I thought the long bolt ran through the crown and the booster?
If it does then I take it back. I couldn’t tell from first glance.
After making this brake, I soon had to make a new fork crown, because
the enhanced braking bent the steerer and caused the fork stanchions
to crawl up in their clamps. I made a stem and fork crown to match
each other, so that they could be joined with a rod to resist bending
loads on the steerer. At one point I attempted to swap this front end
onto a lugged steel frame, but the braking forces bent the frame (!)
and I was obliged to switch back.
holy shit
Looks like BUMM just came out with yet another headlight variation. I will never understand why or how they have so many unique lamps.
This one is called the IQ-XS, a smaller version of the IQ-X without the band.
Perhaps this is a good successor to the Cyo Premium in price but with a better on-off switch?
The 3-position, ON in the middle position, design is unfortunate.

I’m considering upgrading the non-premium Cyo on my winter commuter but I’ve been underwhelmed by the standlight on my IQ-X.
I’m not the only one: https://www.darkerside.org/2017/02/bm-iq-x-dynamo-headlight-review/
Is there a non-Luxos BUMM model with a battery cache instead of a supercapacitor?

Calling bullshit on that. I don’t doubt that he ruined a couple of bits while running that brake but it was not caused by the monstrosity of the brake but the shittiness of the bits in question. Pretty much any brake has enough power to send you over the bars if you clean the rim, put in good pads and set the brake up just so. I.e. pretty much any brake can provide the maximum possible power, and they don’t bend forks and frames.
…or maybe the dude weighed 400lbs, in which case extra powerful brakes could make a difference.

Chalo is a big dude.
a friend of mine bent his fork when a soda can he ran over got stuck under the crown and locked up the wheel.
Chalo was not just a 400lb shrek-shaped motherfucker
he also rode everything like he was a 80lb 12 year old on a BMX
I brought him up to Jan once and he immediately interrupted “oh yes we were college housemates in Austin”
apparently every morning Chalo rode his bike right out the front door, off the porch and down the stoop, a dozen or more steps
Dickiw
What a dude.
rehosted for embed:
Squirrel that light looks neat, keen to see real world photos / comparisons to cyopremium.
edit: It just has an on/off switch like the IQ-X by the looks

wouldn’t the bike like… come to a stop before any of that shit?? I’ve locked up and skidded my front wheel on loose gravel (xtracycle, which literally cannot endo) repeatedly and aint shit happen… so bizarre.
The dude’s weight is the crucial factor. It increases the grip so it doesn’t skid/flip easily and it stresses everything like crazy. His… substance is the reason he needed upgraded brakes in the first place. Also loose gravel is not the surface where you’ll get frame/fork failure. It’s much more likely to happen on grippy asphalt.
I know I just mentioned my endo the other day but seriously, I weigh around 260 and was not going slow when I went over the bars. I could totally see that kind of force bending a frame/fork. I should probably check now that I think about it
Has anyone fucked with the Kasai hubs? They’re available from BTI and competitively priced. And unlike SP, they’re all in stock.
Kasai look identical to SP.
Anyone else’s luxos act silly when charging something and also running the light simultaneously? It’s probably nothing but mine wasn’t on full brightness last night, and then it jumped to full brightness, meanwhile gps stopped charging.
I do not want to have to deal with another warranty.
