Nah, I’m with you. I mean, I think the Osobikes are lame, and I am not applauding him at all for what he’s done but it can’t feel good to have people on, like, virtually EVERY cycling forum blast you before even trying your product or seeing it in person. I’m not saying Osobikes are good, I’m just saying if I did a similar thing and basically got shat on by the collective ass of the internet I’d feel awful, no matter how little foresight I had into the product or marketing tactics or whatever.
On a second note, I like that the only cycling forum I post on (here) does not fall within the realm of forums the Osobike dude has found, registered on, then proceeded to randomly shill all over. Can we, like, pre-ban the name Laredoshane so he can never, ever,ever come here?
I feel kinda bad for him. Things would be a lot better if he didn’t argue with people on the net. The key to rocking in the business world is being able to take the criticism without arguing it, then modify your product based on that while still maintaining your initial vision.

i think having shane here would be interesting. he’s been a dick on BF, but that’s just what happens there. we’re much more civil here. until, of course, some asshat demands civility. then we shit the party all up.
I don’t hate the osobike guy. There’s no real reason to. I feel bad for him that he is fucking up his business due to inept marketing. The bike itself looks interesting.
There is no need to feel bad for a dude who builds an entry level bike for poseurs, and then proceeds to market it in places populated by people who know what they are talking about. I am all for Poseur bikes, and I am all for more people riding bikes, and to be honest I would love to have a beater with a coaster brake for quick rides to the store or bike path rides with my daughter… but you cant expect to pass this shit off as a legit cycling gear on a site like this or even BF! You deserve the shit storm that comes your way! I would think he could kill it marketing on E-Bay or if he could figure out how to target the High School fixie types I see all over Melrose or Hollywood…
I criticized his bike when he posted it on Road Bike Review, he got super defensive. I think I said something along the lines of “you’ve “invented” nothing special”.
I’m not entirelly sure he made the bike with poseurs in mind. It’s just… a bike… with a coaster brake. An alternative to the beach cruiser. It pretty much just happens to match a lot of fixed gera, freewheel aesthetics and low maintenance nature. It just has a coaster brake.
I think the guy honestly believes he has something there and in the right hands, I think it could sell very well to anyone and everyone. With marketing in his hands, the chances of failure is incredibly strong.
