Totally true. Itās not wandering, itās very tightly directed. It gives me uncanny valley vibes. Like this is an ai designing bike rides.
how tf are you supposed to wrap bars from an 80 foot roll?
If they start selling microtex style tape Iād buy some. No cushy garbage for me.
cut a few feet off
I think that is the tape that comes stock on a lot of fat tire road by bikes these days. It certainly looks like what came with my Devinci.
Itās been a while, but I think it was OK. It may have lost itās bounce relatively quickly. But for that price, you could rewrap every year and still come out ahead.
octuple wrap for extreme comfort
was this a Seinfeld episode?
doesnāt that totally defeat the purpose of a big roll ābecause wasteā?
I feel like having to calculate bar wrap length for every handlebar would be more trouble than having a little tape left over at the end.
less waste packaging? at some point itāll be small enough to wrap with i guess
I would think the more likely problem is running out with current single-bar rolls given the rise in wider alt-bar setups.
Count the links of the old bar tape
Wtf, just put the roll on the floor, start at the bottom of your bars and wrap to the top. Cut it there and Robert is married to your momās sister.
Been thinking about buying a roll for awhile.
This is the only upshot for shops. The per bar price isnāt that great (more than Arundel and only slightly less than MSW).
Pricing would have to be at least 20% less to justify all the headache.
Iād rather companies just started using more regular brown paper packaging thatās either post-consumer or otherwise āsustainableā.
Thereās no reason Q couldnāt just brown-bag certain consumables like tape.
I bought a Surly chainring recently and was impressed with the very minimal packaging. I also picked up a Shimano freewheel and was disappointed with the puzzle-like box within a box packaging.
Yeah. Given that Surly and MSW are literally the same company itās absurd that a more universal approach to packaging hasnāt been adopted.
That seems like itās just going to get hopelessly twisted before you even get close to done?
Put the box on a turntable
