I’ve been keen for a while, but holding back, as they have a new product they are developing. A week ago they did a promo asking for beta testers. I have heard nothing since then. The idea of being able to change your dangler and make it work with anything just fills me with joy. Maybe I will just buy the current one. I can’t tell what the difference is with the new model, I am thinking it maybe has a detachable chargeable battery ala sram. Follow them on IG to find out whats going on. I think the major thing for me with the current model would be having to turn it on before each use. The cool thing about it is that you can DIY your own buttons. The BFR system looks like it would sit real well in a gas tank. Their buttons look a bit bulky tho. The TRP compatible drop bar buttons apparently are a bit clumsy to activate. I’ve been thinking about button drop bar button placement for weeks now …
People say that changing the batteries is a pain, so they’re probably doing like a usb plug in thing instead of removable batteries.
We get it bro
You vape
Yeah, I see them do it with a magnet thing.
Trying out the latest gruppetto from one of the Sons of Sram: LTWOO GR-9
Overview
- Their 1X 11 speed “gravel group”
- Uses Shimano 11 speed road pull
- Left side is dummy lever
- about $80 from Ali all together
Shifters
- Heavily “inspired” by Campy
- Shape is a little square and not great on flared bars
- Roomy for big hands, reach might be too much for small hands, with no lever adjustment
- Downshift lever doesn’t have a little plastic or rubber bumper between it and the brake lever and will squeak (a little ski wax fixed it)
- Upshift lever is tiny, the size of a smushed tic-tac but it’s right under your thumb. You can not reach it from the drops however.
- Shifting feel is a little flat, clicks aren’t very positive though it seems to be breaking in.
- Even compared to a Microshift shake you can see where they’ve figured out where to cut costs.
Rear Derailleur
- No clutch. Get with it already.
- This is the body from the MTB derailleur with a shorter fin to change the cable pull.
- They did not update the cable stop to point at the fin so the cable rubs and the shifting gets worse as the derailleur moves up the cassette
- After three rides there was already a ridiculous amount of play in the main pivot.
- In short, this part is dogshit and hopefully it was meant to be a quick stopgap while they get a clutched model together.
Fixes
- Taking a file to the body to get a rounder profile at the outside back corner improved comfort 100%
- Swapped the RD to their sibling company SRIDE 's RD-M520C, their “gravel” RD that is clutched, clears a 50 at least, and has a slightly longer cage for massive 2x capacity
As it stands
- The LTWOO/SRIDE combo shifts nice!
- If you like non-floppy levers and want mechanical brakes this combo could be a decent option (if the levers don’t explode)
- I only had enough chain to run an 11-42 but I would not be shocked that the 520C can clear 11-51
- The 520C might be the sleeper GRX Mullet combo (at least until the rumored 2023 update)
- Inability to upshift from the drops might bug some people but it’s no different than Gevenalles in pracitice and you get a full grip of the hoods.
- If you love Campy levers this is the closest you’ll get to Ekar
- Assumably the left side shifters in other LTWOOs can be modified to run a dropper but I haven’t tried.
- This combo in 12 speed could make a nice mullet setup too.
what kind of grotesque front bracket are they gonna come up with to run a front pusher on that? I guess the Roubaix could go 1x-only, but seems unlikely.
e-type making a comeback!
But this time just Specialized proprietary for 1.5 model years.
But what about derpers?
That’s a non suspension bike if I’ve ever seen’t one.
Top of the headtube looks like it’s a future shock equipped frame.
that thing is really not dramatically different from a double triangle bike anyways, boring
I struggle to think of what the best name for the ‘novel’ tube is.
“Western facade of the Pentagon tube?”
Pentatube sounds good to me
That’s called Columbus gilco
The carry handle.
