Yeah fuck that. One day I am putting the cables on the outside of my OPEN UP just to offend people.
It’s def a crime with mechanical shifting, but if it’s just hydro hoses running through there it’s less sucky. If you’re riding a bike that needs regular headset bearing service then you should look elsewhere.

I’ve had a few bikes with internal cabling now. None of them have had an internally routed headset, though. I guess technically my Marino is also internally routed, but he put a steel hose all the way through so I don’t have to fish it.
When is the last time u changed a headset bearing
Couple months ago.
anyhoo, I guess my point is that any changes to the front of the bike are a pain in the arse and can end up costing the punter a pretty penny in labour costs if they can’t DIY it themselves.
yeah, when they do it on low-mid range bikes it makes no sense at all. And they are the guys that WONT be DIYing their wrenching.
Yeah, headset routing on entry level road bikes with mechanical shifting is shitty - each of those bikes needs to come with a warning sticker with the forecasted service charges when the housing needs to be replaced.
Wow, I never knew the State 4130s could fit 45s. Their new 4130 road frame can fit 40s, though WTH the complete comes with 42x11-28
