colour is perfect; can hardly wait to see it built

This is what I used for a color reference. Seems a little bluer. I like it though. Kind of a risky color choice because there are definitely more bad purples than good purples.

I had a bike inherited that was powdercoated a purple like this and for a long time I thought I didn’t like the color, but I think I just didn’t like the bike. It was a Specialized Crossroads or something that I built with drop bars but it never fit right or handled right.

Progress photo on the build. I’m being stymied a bit by oxidization on the wheels. Broke a nipple and another half dozen are on the way out.

Shop quoted $200 for repair or I gotta build my dynamo wheelset early. I went with Son SL dropouts, have the hub but nothing else for the new wheels and don’t want to spend $1500 extra right now.

Dumbest part of the build so far is that I had to shave the disc adapter bracket to account for the French fork curve. Caveman metalworking but it was fun. Ruined a bunch of flex shaft bits before switching to a file.

Most frustrating part of the build is that I can’t seem to get the rear brake to not drag.

This is not to complain per se, just wanted to post bike.

What hub would be a good match to the SON? I wanted Onyx originally but they’re heavy and wouldn’t match the high polish. Any alternatives to White Industries?

Any rim ideas for rims in the 30-40mm range? Mavic, Hplusson, Astral, Chinese carbon? Want either silver or gloss black.

the fork looks great though, so the effort is worth it

Never seen a set that isn’t on one of my bikes but I love Hadley hubs. CA machine shop produced. The guy that answers the phone at Balle racing is helpful and knows his shit. I haven’t had a single problem with them and the price is very fair. The silver isn’t high polish like Phil but is shiny and nice

Hadley is great. Hope might be an option but are silvery machined not quite high polish. If you need hi-polish I’d consider Profile Racing.

Bitex? 106r or 108r. I just got a 108r to match my Son front hub and gold rims I bought here. Haven’t built up yet.

my “Glossy Crystal Painting (silver)” rims arrived from Light Bicycle six months after I ordered them

Seems like it was worth the wait

Oooo is that the pee crystal paint technique?

I like that look and have never seen it in silver before.

What the fuck is that stem

Sick bike WOW. Not sure what the rear brake mount is but on my wife’s Nor’easter I had to file the paint away on the front IS mount to be able to have enough space to move the caliper enough to not rub.

I’m guessing it’s that new nitto.

cheap blue lug

I can hardly believe I’m asking this but… what bars should I put on this parts bin 2x1 (maybe eventually 3x1 if I wanna spend some $krilla) 1984-1985 Fuji Mt. Fuji? The original answer would be Bullmoose but I don’t wanna buy them even though they’re so danged sick and I miss my old set.

I’m thinking 20+° backsweep, maybe high rise. I tried some Stooge Junker 85 for a min and it was NOT the vibe. Maybe Nitto Bull bars? Maybe be irreverent and run Whisky Scully bars? Maybe be SUPER irreverent and run Whisky Winston bars? Crust Jungle Runner / Fixie Dave Nice Bars??? HMMMMMMM
