looks like Reynolds stopped updating the rim brake models a few generations ago
and I think Shimano never made them, with all the full-carbon models being for tubulars and/or disc brakes — the rim brake clinchers from the last generation were heavier and narrower with aluminum brake tracks DURA-ACE C60 Clincher Front Wheel | SHIMANO BIKE-EU
ENVE with the textured braking surface and molded spoke holes are the gold standard for rim brake carbon clinchers. Hands down. Stopping power with DA or EE calipers is phenomenal.
I have some terrible old 24/20 renyolds assaults that are like 15mm intenal width if you are interested lol
You’re not wrong. Lots of worn out carbon bikes that belong in a landfill still in service or on eBay.
That being said the 2012 Cervelo R3 I paid a bit more than I should have on eBay is the perfect bike for me and came with zero real issues.
Speaking of wheelsystems. I snagged some closeout non-tubeless Fulcrum carbon wheels for this rim-brake foolishness and the textured brake surface is great. Campy/Fulcrum consistency not to be overlooked.
Yep seems like one of my key options would be Bora, Hyperon, or the Fulcrum equivalent and then rebuilding with different hubs later down the line
I don’t like that ENVE refused to grind down their mold flashing in the rim bed which can mean endless leaky tubeless tape, but it’s not that hard to finish their job
My one regret is that I didn’t get a seat tube light mount braze on. Was on the fence then the eBay supplier I was eying ran out. I ordered some koma lights from blue lug and lo and behold, they unscrew from their mount and would have worked…
