Post your most embarrassing bike

They’re yuuuuge. I actually clipped one riding the (paved) Boulder Creek Path on a tight turn.

This is basically 100% of e-bike buyers.

I wish that thing had Speedplays on it.

Here, hold my soda…

With a rigid frok, real fenders and less weird front rack. That bike would be way less lame. E-MTBS are just strange creatures.

I would totally ride a electrified frontloadin/650fop/upright commuter

Same here. Almost all the cool commuter-friendly ebikes are class-3, which means 28mph top speed (pedal-assist) and reduced/restricted access.

A tarck-designed ebike would be super practical and fun, too. Sadly, the manu’s just want to make e-mtbs and hyper-expensive hybrids that weigh 60+ pounds.

I recently built this up as a grocery getter / longer commuter, something to avoid using the car when lugging groceries up the hill etc.

Cheap gumtree hammertone frame, OS steel & 1 1/8" threaded, 73mm BB, 135mm/vert dropouts, cantis.
Kona fork swap for threadless/disc front end
Tip shop rear rack/front wheel/headset/basket
Orc rack
US surplus basket bag
XT 8sp trigger, alivio shadow mech.
DT 535 / Deore / Alpine III wheel
Powerblock tyres and bluemels guards.

Bafang BBS02 mid drive kit with 52V 14AH battery. Smallest chainring available, detuned amperage draw and max assist speed, stock it was way more powerful/fast than it needs to be. Didn’t install the thumb throttle. Shame it wasn’t the controller that had a 12V supply for a headlight. Step drilled the downtube and rivnutted to add an extra mount for the battery cradle.

(also, this is probably my most embarrassing bike, besides original sw8est fixay)

Well that’s certainly the least deplorable ebike I’ve ever seen, but I still hate it on principal.

Look, I hate it on principle too and feel a little dirty. But when I’m not dying carrying an overstuffed load up the hill the hate melts away.

That is really cool and basically exactly what I had in mind.

“to avoid using the car” is no excuse for an e-bike. PEDAL HARDER

You don’t tell people what to do.

Hella jelly.

Sorry, ebike is still cooler than your bikes new guy

and actually de-tuned to sensible power/speed boost so it’s not like your regular overweight DUI dude on DH e-bike with 3.5kw hurtling along the bike path at 50+kph with the same kinetic energy as an anti tank projectile /rant

new guy seems alright tho, but the scorn is deserved.

he’ll assimilate nicely atmo, just will take some time.

the new guy pushed it too hard in the new guy thread and it’s going to take some mega goodwill for me to turn my opinion around. i can be bought, though.

LOLrotta
