Pro Cycling aka "which VPN do I use this week?"

I feel like this did not get the attention it deserves

tangential:

Read that article yesterday. It’s pretty sad that’s where we are at, that crossfit and some alleycats have better equity for women than anything even close to UCI regulated.

The fact that podium girls still exist speaks volumes about the UCI’s concept of parity/equity for women (racers).

i didn’t hate watching the crosscrit. i don’t understand why it was so short, and it would have been more fun if they’d had an announcer who knew more about actual bike racing, but it wasn’t terrible.

“99% of these riders are not familiar with this equipment”
How do you work out that much but never think to ride bikes? It really seems like they can’t actually make use of their fitness because they aren’t strong riders. 10 laps should hardly tire them out.

I kind of like that course though. There’s an off camber into a corner that seems like it could be sketchy at speed.

This.

Can we all collectively admit that Quintana is not the great hope of Columbia and is really more of a low-rent Purito than even a new-world Beloki?

A disappointment for sure, but he did stand on the top step of more grand tours than Purito or Beloki

True… but his Giro win was over a field that would have likely been outside the top 10 in a Beloki era tour (even on the good sauce). His Vuelta won wasn’t much more impressive.

When faced with big boy GC contenders he melts away every time.

“melts away” is the perfect description. he never blows up, he just loses a littttttttle bit of time when it counts, and he does that a few times, and then he’s dead.

Haha. Yeah. Didn’t even think of that.

Did think of a better analogy. He’s the Iban Mayo of his generation.

Is this the current pro cycling thread?
