She grabbed Sagan’s butt
Flanders was so great. Alaphilippe has been riding like an absolute idiot since he put that jersey on. I was totally convinced wout would win but I guess he really is at the tail end of his form
Post cant be empty
Mvdp has looked a little iffy in the longer races! I doubted him
All that said, I feel like he would’ve attacked on the Paterberg and made the race a lot more exciting from further out. That said, what an intense last km with the simultaneous sprints! Stoked about MvdP getting the win.
Race 2 was equally as good, straight up some quality racing all round!
La Vuelta: crazy climbs on tiny roads, sketchy moto and car passes, Movistar bouncing off the walls and a pack of ponies almost colliding with the leaders.
Cute little horsies. And I like how Vuelta is just going for it, and usually does, but without the coverage. NBC broadcasting it might be new, but glad I can tune in when I want.
you would think that every domestique on the big teams would ride a bike with a dropper post.
Have you ridden a bike with a dropper post? It’s a compromise that’s made for radness only.
what?? every bike i own has one. If my team mechanic was adding weights to my bike to make the minimum weight, what other disadvantages would it have?
As a roadie at heart, I assure you the slight lateral wiggle alone is probably a deal breaker for most pros. The occasional sagging would be unforgivable.
Most of those bikes have proprietary seatposts anyway, so it’s moot.
oh. you meant “‘disadvantages’”
also, i’m not saying that the big names would have them, but Chaves was riding a bike like three sizes too big for him at one point today. he couldn’t even sit on the saddle. That’s an actual disadvantage. i’m saying his 4" taller teammate should have one
Didn’t some of the neutral support bikes start getting equipped with droppers recently?
It’s my understanding that team leaders often have a particular domestique that is fairly close to their size that is the go-to in the case of a swap. What happened with Chaves was really just bad luck and I don’t think it would ever be used successfully to convince a road pro to race a bike with a seat that wiggles around, no matter how slight.
I’m pro-dropper on my mtb and on my cargo bike… but I found it to be distracting at times on my gravel bike and I’m not nearly as particular about things as just about every pro cyclist I have ever encountered.
Your idea does make sense to a degree and to what @Gary_the_tennis_ball asked, Mavic was indeed fooling around with droppers on neutral support bikes for this reason.
I haven’t watched any of this but just sharing cos I used to coach Tom when he was a young’n.
i guess i wasn’t following this closely at the time because 4.5 hours in pain waiting for proper medical attention is ABSURD.
also, wild that his insurance company tried to fly him on a stretcher in the overhead bins.
