Rob Hatch couldn’t resist “Plapp went plop” which I think everyone was already thinking

Tdf.
I love it.
Today was great.

Peacock doesn’t have the “world feed” that I watched last year so I have to listen to bob and Phil.

i refuse to pay any amount of currency to listen to either phil or bob. back to cyclingtorrents for me! administratively burdensome and can’t watch live but at least i can listen to people under literally 80 talk about cycling

Fantastic start to the tour.

Yeah, loving it. A couple of great finishes, attacks from the big guns, sprinters struggling to miss the cut-off, it’s had everything! And we’re only 2 days in!

Is it better because they started with some hilly stages? I don’t remember stages 1 and 2 ever having this much climbing before.

Last year was similar(ish?), but yeah, it’s not the usual start to the tour. Nice to start with a bang though, starting with a sprint stage or ITT is a bit of a snooze.

3/3 quality finishes.

Eurosport commentators were talking yesterday that if remco finished a few positions ahead of tadej that remco would take yellow? is that how it works now in a bunch finish?? i was so confused because i figured they’d get the same time

There’s a nice explanation of this here:

Essentially, since all four GC contenders have the same cumulative time, all of their stage placings are added together, and the yellow jersey goes to the person with the lowest cumulative score - Carapaz in this case.

here i was thinking i knew all the rules after like 23 years of watching this thing

Indeed.

That was such an impressive sprint. Absolute wizardry to find a wheel in that chaos

Absolute scenes, sensations off the charts.

That sprint really encapsulated how good he is at navigating a chaotic field :exploding_head:

He didn’t even slingshot. Just rode faster than everyone.

Spectacular

I stood up and raised my hands in celebration as I saw it happening.
Also glad it wrapped up before I had to ride to work. Good benefits of west coast.
