I did a cheap fixie conversion on my old racing about 9 years ago so I could learn how to peddle in circles. I’m now looking to clean it up to make it my around town cruiser.
Are there any benefits to using a half-link chain(like this one)? I’d assume one good thing would be being able to more finely-tune the position of the rear wheel in the dropout. Anything else? Any other chains you might recommend? I’m looking for a shiny silver/chrome chain to use to match the frame that I am getting chromed.
Also, I have an old '97 campy road crank on the bike. I’m looking to get some shorter crank bolts to ditch my big ring as I cannot stand it just sitting there doing nothing. Any recommendations on the proper length to get? 6 mm?

Unless you have vertical dropouts or some shit there is no point in using a 1/2link chain
They make bolts specifically for single rings, a few seconds spent on google would tell you this

Thanks, was just making sure I wasn’t missing anything. It has semi-horizontal road dropouts and I can currently tension it fine with a standard chain.
I’ve seen crank bolts labeled “single speed” that have heights between 5 and 7 mm on web searches (even google) and at various retail sites. I was hoping someone had a late 90’s/early 00’s campy crank that they converted and might remember what brand/size they used. I wanted to avoid ordering a set too long (loose chainring) or too short (failure due to limited thread engagement).
Thanks for the inspiraitonal message. I’m all full-up on dicks already, though.
half link chains are shit. don’t bother. and if you ignore this advice, don’t get the KHE chain because it’s too short.[/quote]
Are they loud? Wear themselves or your sprocket/chainring out faster? I’d guess they are heavier due to the extra pins, but I don’t care about weight on this bike.
I thought it looked kind of cool, too.
I spent some time in your country (Joteborg and Trolhattan) - loved it there.
y’know that sound you get when your chainring bolts are loose? that’s what a half-link chain will give you. get a SRAM pc-1. and if you’re full-up on dicks, find new places to put them.
