More ability, like these?
$7 vs $65.
True, was joke.

for $7 might as well get some just to be like WOOOOooooOOOOoooOOOooo you know?

Now I want to put a bunch of those $10 lights all over my bike and make it look like a low-flying UFO.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2933 this is the light i was talking about. They look like putting a cop light on your bike but DAMN will you be able to see like noontime in the desert.
Does anyone have any pictures of this out in the real world? I can’t quite grasp what the numbers translate into.

I just got a Dealextreme Aurora AK-P74. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.15691

Without a doubt, it is bright as fuck. Total cost for the system was about CAD $100, but I bought the two batteries and charger from a place here in Vancouver. I’ll use it as a backup for my Cyo.

I just ordered a Magicshine 900 bike light set from Dealextreme (christmas present from mom). I’ll probably get some comparison photos between it and my current low/medium end Cat-eye lights whenever it shows up.

Also, I know nothing about these… but they are 1/2 off…

If those $7 lights above had been posted earlier… I definitely would be spreading the love.

WOW did I ever get hosed buying batteries locally! My batteries were $40 for two, $15 for the charger, and DX has the same stuff for so much cheaper. $8 for a pair of batteries, and the same or so for a charger. buyers remorse

tape this to your bike and be done with it

The Princeton Tec EOS runs about $45 and is pretty damn bright. For best results, mount it on your helmet. Probably not the best for night time trail riding, but I bet it could get you by in a pinch. Definitely bright enough for any kind of road/street/city riding.

Generator hubs > battery lights

if you want to spend money, commute in the dark, not worry about batteries, and make your wheel heavier.
Shimano headlight kind of sucks, don’t have experience with anything else. Bicycle Quartly reviews like every light that comes out though.

I got my MagicShine 900 light in, and have made a few rides with it. HOLY CRAP it’s bright… should’ve upgrade from the cheapy lights years ago. NICE.

At noon on a SLIGHTLY cloudy day, you can see the light beam on tan garage door from 6ft away. I’d say it’s in the average range of car headlights… not a cheapy sealed beam light, but not an HID either. I’ve been using the “low” setting cause it has less of a hotspot in the middle. The flood is great… lights up more than 1/2 a regular road lane, and at 20mph I am not over running the light.

The “rubber band” mount is a fairly thick rubber O-ring. Seems to work well… not sure how it’ll hold up, but seems fine.
My battery is mounted with a small velcro strap used tidy up computer/TV wires. I want a larger strap that’ll wrap around the whole battery instead of just the mounting tab. Seems like that would hold it better.

I’m seriously in love with this light… should’ve upgraded way before this.

I got a Magic Shine for x-mas too. It’s pretty much amazing. I think someone said this before, but I’ve attached the battery to my stem with an old toe strap.

Wow!!! Last night I tried my Aurora AK-P74 out on my bike and in the dark for the first time, as a headlamp. )It has the same LED and similar output as the Magicshine 900 but only one 18650 battery). On the high setting it is way, way, way brighter than my IQ Cyo. It’s way past the point of overkill for road use, but just about right for riding trails in the dark. I’m going to keep it and turn it on once in a while as an auxiliary light on fast and gnarly descents, and for reading street signs up close as the Cyo has a beam cutoff at the horizon.

To repeat what i said before, make sure you get the batteries and charger from dealextreme too as my local prices were 500% higher.
