for your horse legs.

I think I’m gonna ditch my perforated saddle for this reason.

chaps.

I mean, I guess my legs are bigger then your av. joe, but they certainly aren’t that big.

it happens to me too, is it really caused by the saddle? if thats the case i gotta get me a new saddle. anyone have saddle suggestions besides lame ass brooks?

ur legs r too big for girl pants?

i dont wear girl pants, those are for girls.

I don’t have this problem, but usually wear lycra for any ride longer than 5 miles or so.

/my arione doesn’t really rub my pants i dont think, but yeah lycra for anything more than a few miles.

I also have this problem on my carhartt shorts I wear for my commute. They are awesome shorts for riding but I have worn through the crutch!

I am thinking sewing some hard wearing material to prolong life. Anyone had any luck with such an operation? What would you suggest as a suitable material?

Ripped pants suck. One time I busted through the ass of my pants right before leaving work and riding home.It was a huge rip from like the crotch almost all of the way to the waist band. On the ride home I stayed seated and trackstanded through the lights to avoid showing everybody my ass. I almost made it but a block or two from my house some kid in the car next to me rolled down the window and yelled “Hey man your pants are ripped.”

^^i always roll with extra pants/socks/boxers

I should have borrowed some from a messenger.

…use the rips as “easy access” holes?

why is that not the #1 response to holes caused by saddles?

speaking from experience?

I was thinkning about getting some kind of something like nylon that wears well and isn’t too bulky and patching them. Worst part of this all is owning only 1 pair of jeans.

so basically:

stop being a cheapskate,
buy new pants,
wear cycling specific clothes or make thriftstore knickers,
deal with it

One time, while working in the dead of winter, I had the nose of my saddle get stuck in a small pants-crotch-hole and tear my jeans down to the knee. Luckily, I wasn’t very far from home and was able to take my lunch break there. But yeah, your best bet when dealing with pants-crotch explosion (PCE) is to stitch down the tears, then stitch across the tears (perpendicularly to them) and then cover with some kind of patch. I usually use eight inches or so of fabric from the bottom of the legs to do this, but be warned that this method makes the crotch of your pants hot and sweaty and is best avoided in warm weather.

You down with PCE?
