Exaggeration for effect - and I had been riding only fixed gear bikes for last 6 years [sneak edit: but I did some descending before
oh, well in that case you’ll be fine.
Fuuu, I want to ride on a magical island off spain where loops are descents tooooooo
Shh. I thought Hal would not notice that he would have to climb after or before the descent.
Possible down Devil’s Peak. Or Dead Man’s Curve?
So, where’d your son get the Pin?
I’m digging my Serotta Meivici AE, 58 cm.

As much as I’d love to come to Majorca to prove you wrong, let me just state that you’re too skinny to stand even a remote chance. You’d drop my ass in a heartbeat going uphill, though.
Goddamn, I’m a slow climber.
'bout to throw 35c Kojaks on the cross bike. I’m wondering if that’ll do anything to make descents faster.

That’s right folks, I guarantee that I’m faster on descents than everyone in this thread and I’ve thrown this bike into hairpins at 30mph sliding both tires with a degree of confidence that I could probably pull something out of my ass and survive.
I take your bet, Halbritt. You come over to my place with your bike and we ride a short loop. A bit of pre-ride chest banging
Max Speed: 59.98 km/h (37.3 mi/h)
Not impressed.

No shit. There are spots around the southside of Richmond where I can routinely get over 40mph just tucking in and coasting. And Richmond AIN’T hilly.
Similarly, I’m a flatlander, and on a ride yesterday, I hit 47mph with nothing but a little tuck. Some of my partners topped 50.
Hit 44mph in my crit yesterday on a small descent. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
lulz
cross season is over, but couldn’t ask for a better handling bike than the supertouch for most NECX racing. Current cliche term but a true “drivers bike”. And to back up what Halbritt said awhile back. the cad3 with alpha Q is what Jamey Driscoll got a top 10 @ Battenkill with when he was waiting for his Jamis team bike. I think he had downtube shifters and a frame pump too.
Speaking of my mad descending skills. Someone on Strava actually came close to me on Kings Mountain:

Can you imagine the disappointment of having such a harrowing ride and missing it by 9 seconds? My average speed on this is 32mph including all the switchbacks. Here’s a really nice video version:
That dude is considered “fast” and is about a minute slower than me on a <10m descent.
I hit >50mph on a regular basis. I start to get scared around 60mph or 100kph for you euro-types. That’s where shit starts to get serious.
Rode the CAD3 this weekend. It beat me up a bit. Looking forward to moving on to a CAAD8/9 with the bendy seat stays.

Hahaha…
Vobopl I can sprint as fast as you can descend. Feel ashamed.
Heath, you’re gonna be loving the hourglass seatstays on 9’s. Couple that with some A23’s/similar wide rim and the ride is superb.
I go over 40 every day on my ride to school.
sometimes I do not though if it is wet and whatever because curvy.
'snot a big deal.
I love talking so much shit about being able to descend well, but let me just say that it doesn’t come close to making up for getting dropped on every climb.
In other news, I’m finally getting my motorcycle running again so I can work on my line-picking skills some more. Wondering if I can descend as fast on a sportbike on some the same hills I do on my bicycle.
