I hear a lot of mixed opinions on these. But one constant is that people say they are STIFF. Almost too stiff for anything but racing. Everyone’s foot is different of course but these have a ridiculously low stack height. Also I’ve heard they aren’t too durable and have kinda wonky customer service. They look nice though…
I almost got some of these in wide but ended up pulling out when Rabbi posted that Gaerne test ride deal.
I’m kinda over looking for shoes as my feet are stupid wide and weird. Hopefully the Gaernes are nice.
I’ve seen the new Giro shoes in person, and they are definitely the real deal. Don’t know if they’re available yet, but as far as I’m concerned, there’s another entry into the high-end shoe market, right next to Sidi and Specialized. If you can wait until they’re available, they’ll probably be shockingly cheap for shop rats or people with access to shop rats.
An often-overlooked maker of high quality road and mountain shoes, IMO, is Louis Garneau. Look good, competitive price, and most importantly, competent fit. Also, their Ergo Grip is the winter MTB shoe.
Speaking of winter shoes… winter here is wet and 40-50 degrees. What’s a good idea for that? I imagine most “winter shoes” are meant for real winters.
I can ride my sidi all winter I guess, but the heals are all scraped up so I cringe everytime I put my foot down (wore threw to the heal pad screw and so it hits the ground first. woops).
^ just cut a strip of rubber off a junked tire and epoxy it to the heel.
no biggie if they are just beater shoes.
did this all over my $30 pearl izumis. It is my beater and my nice pair.

that is a good idea.
they dont fit particularly well with thick socks though, so my toes are squished, which is my other winter complaint, but usually they just end up going numb if i ride long enough. but i’ll try this in the mean time.
I got some TIME’s the other day on sale, in ‘my size’. They are a bit narrow, but I guess I shoulda known that being eurpoean shoes and all. Still fit good and stiff as.
So Braden and Aeroboobs, do the DMTs fit like Specialized and Shimano/PI? On the wider side of the spectrum? Mostly asking 'cause those Pista shoes are a definite HY and will look into for next season.
Looks like bike gallery is the only place here that is a capo dealer, i kind of doubt they actually carry dmt though but I have no idea.
I know my coach and everyone else I know who wears the dmt shoes gets thtem through the landrover orbea team here I’m pretty sure…
Eventually I’m going ot make time and go to River City and try some shoes on, they seem to have the best selection locally…
