saddles

So I am about to pull the trigger on a Cambium. I assume that the C15 is the go-to for anyone who is looking for a “racy” fit, something for a bike with some saddle-to-bar drop? Has anyone a opinion of the C17s (with the cutout). Or any kind of long-term opinions about the Cambium are welcome.

i generally ride an arione (now on a VS model) and i did not like how wide the c17 and c15 were and sold/traded both.

LadyBieK has the cutout c17 and she loves it

My buddy has the cutout c17 and he hates it.

5 minutes after I posted this, I just went ahead and bought one C15 and one C15s. It’s a pro deal, so if I don’t like one, I can surely sell it for a profit, or hook a Tarcker up.

they resell in about 5 seconds on dentistforums if priced below retail

Yeah, it seems like new ones on the card fetch at least $100 on eBay. I hadn’t even considered the Dentist Forum.

I have a C17 no cutout. I am fat. It took my butt maybe 50 miles to get used to the stiffness but now I appreciate the firm but compliant ride. Or maybe it broke in a little? But I dig it now, huge upgrade over the bendy Selle Anatomica I had been using.

I’d been meaning to try a carved to compare to the S-A I’ve been hoarding.

I hated my non-carved C17. I tolerate my carved C15. I lean towards the Aliante Gamma on most of my bikes.

At this point I am willing to spend some stupid money to ensure I can still feel my penis after a moderate bike ride. You can say you’re down with it, but I tell ya - you just end up finding other reasons not to do that thing that makes your dick numb.

Hi my name is Scott and I’m into oversharing today.

Selle Anatomica has worked best for me in the not-numb-dick department. But it squeaks so bad I hate using it, and nothing I do gets rid of the squeak for more than 20km…

i don’t have terrible problems, but thinking of trying something new. my current saddle is in the “only gives me a saddle sore once a year” dept, but i’ve more and more shied away from long rides due to crotch discomfort/soreness afterwards.
i keep putting off going to the shop that is a cobb demo dealer though to see if they have either of the ones i want to try.

just so hard to get over the ugly aesthetic, but i’m sure if i find something i dig, i’ll be grateful for a long time…

I’ve got the Selle Italia MAN saddle which I think has been the best so far, but that just gets me longer than immediately.

Try a Cobb Randee. I have put a surprisingly diverse range of riders on this saddle with great success. From touring bros to tri-moms. It seems to have some magic for lots of folks.

Usual conversation:

Customer: ma butt hurt. I have tried saddles X, Y, and Z and it still hurts.

Me: Ok… I want you to demo something. I’m going to warn you… it looks kindof weird and you are not going to like the price

Customer: Uhh… WTF is that thing? Oh wait… daaaaamn. That’s nice. $189? Take my money.

:colbert:

Not joking in the slightest. I think I may actually be at a 100 % success/sale rate with people I have let try a demo saddle.

I’ll mail you one of my two demo ones to test on your dime.

yeah, their saddle selector suggests i try the fifty five or the max.
i’m pretty set on trying one, but at the price, i can’t afford to buy to try, so really need to swing by the tri shop that is supposed to have em for demo…
really tired of smashing my lady bits after all the years (been on the same saddle since 2009 - have 6 of em).

i got turned on to cobb after the articles mentioning their women’s fit selector thing (innie/outtie) and liked that someone was finally taking notice of that as a primary factor in saddle selection

Well… I do have one of those as well the JOF55. Just sayin.

Yeah John Cobb is no fool.

I’ve never ridden a Cobb, but bike fitter friends swear up and down that the ideas are the best and the hard part is getting people to accept them. Also, I love the fact that, instead of treating female customers like delicate butterflies, Cobb cuts through the shit and is like “select your genitals so we can help you pick a saddle that won’t hurt them”.
