Very easily, if the pedal is loose and wobbling around it can chew up the threads in the crank arm. People who are not mechanically minded won’t pay attention to the wobble.
If it backed out once or twice before and stripped out the outer threads, then got threaded back by hand, it can finish off the inner threads easily.
I saw two pairs of Crank Bros flat pedals seize and take out the threads of a Race Face crank set. I don’t remember which side, but I think it was the drive side.
I had this happen to a pair as well except it seized then as I tried to limp it to school at the time it unthreaded the nut holding the pedal body on the spindle and came off. It was a whole lot easier to pedal on a bare spindle than a flat pedal that doesn’t spin.

day 2 of my great divide run one of my stamp pedals exploded and I had to pedal to camp on the spindle. but also I’d put thousands of miles on those pedals already
I had a fairly new pair of Stamps eat their bearings in short order…but this was years ago. Chesters just seem like the safer choice these days.
This part of the Stamp presses into my feet for some reason. It doesn’t look any different compared to other pedals I’ve had but on the bike I can feel it and I hate it.

I say push it back bleed and leak check. But it’s also, I’m guessing a fairly inexpensive caliper and I’d say 50/50 on being compromised.

Roli keeps getting sprayed in the face with sealant from a recurring puncture. I’ve tried all my roadside fixes short of sticking a tube in it. Added sealant and tried to stick a dart in, but I don’t think it really got in there. The hole is pretty small but it keeps un-sealing. Tire might just be donezo.

Yeah, I’m gonna give up on the dream of a tubeless cargo bike entirely when I run out of my hoard of 20" tubeless tires. I think I only have one left.
