Damn man, that sucks. Hopefully the healing is straight forward. Also silver lining is it could have been much worse. I have a friend who knocked out like 4 teeth doing the same thing.

Goddamnit, heal up quick dude.

Oh, GODDAMNIT.

hojeez that is not at all funny

Thanks y’all!
I got a plate installed last Wednesday so Im already getting better everyday and yea it’s been easy to find the silver lining with this one. I’ve ridden my bike home real drunk A LOT so it’s been a good wake up call to be better about that. It’s also forced me to realize that if I really want to fuck around on bikes that I gotta get in better shape. I can’t help but think that if I was a little slimmer and a little stronger that it might not have been so bad but who knows. Either way I’m feeling motivated to take better care of myself by the thing which is only a positive

I can’t see how this could have helped, other than maybe a little less gravity pulling you to the ground.

Agreed, to a point. As a member of the +200lbs club I feel a definite difference in my riding ability when I’m closer to 200lbs compared to +220lbs.

Focus on strength, stability, and mobility. Having the mobility to put your body where you want it with the strength and stability to hold it there will help more than anything else, within reason.

Yeah, riding ability and safety are very different. Focusing on strength, stability, and mobility like you said will help with both. For some people, this means gaining weight, not losing it, by adding muscles to the shoulders and core.

It’s amazing how much better it feels when the plate goes in. Don’t be afraid to get it removed if it bothers you later on. Worth it both ways imho.

And ask well ahead and frequently to keep it if they remove it.

that way if you bust up your arm again they can’t jack up the price with a fancy new plate; just limp into the hospital with the old one

Have had plates put in my fore arm when I was 13. Had one removed when I was 15 because it bothered me. Removal sucked for me though because the bone had grown over the plate so they had to chisel bone off to get it out. That sucked.

I’ve had a plate in my left arm near the wrist for just over ten years and it hasn’t been so bad. I imagine my new one (same arm) has much more potential to be irritating since it’s like under my bicep

He is now more machine than man, twisted and evil
