search the hoard: new wanted/looking for thread

I’m behind the times. Glad to hear it. I liked that saddle a lot for a summer before it broke.

Anyone got a set of decent v-brakes and levers? I knew I’d need this stuff the second I donated it all.

Bonus if it’s something weird.

I’ve got at least one set of v boring basic Vs you can have

I do have a set of these levers in my brake lever bin. Are there any equally weird calipers to go along with them?

I think the Cane Creek Direct Curve brakes or the Avid Arch Rival could be matchingly weird?

I shouldn’t even try to beat @JUGE_FREDD to the answer. The Cane Creek are the ones I was picturing and desperately searching the internet for.

Both excellent options and don’t truly match the weird of these levers.

The cheapest SRAM calipers that just say SRAM really big on the arm might match the design best.

XT/XTR parallelogram ones are also candidates to match the SRAM levers from an “extra moving parts” perspective.

@Face I need to double check but pretty sure there’s a set of the XT parallel jawns in my mess you can have for shipping if you want to dither that direction.

I think you sold those to me and they’re on my 1x1

No those were the XTRs. I bought a set of XTs around the same time as those, seemed like a good idea at the time.

If @Face doesn’t want the XTs, I’ll take them! My wife built her touring bike around them (pre disc brake), but eventually the pivots get sloppy and the brakes develop a persistent squeal.

Edit: Drop bars + V-brakes and 26x1.5" tires are making me increasing nervous about the long-term maintainability of this bike.

Yeah era-correct SRAM 7.0 or 9.0 brakes are a good match.

Anybody got a Surly Kid Corral kit laying around? Shipping probably isn’t worth it but figured I’d ask

Guess I should check them to see how sloppy they are. They came from the local bicycle collective and sometimes they miss things.

I can’t personally vouch for this, but a friend in the bike mines told me once that the fix for the squeal was to ziptie the parallelogram linkage.

You could also get the tuneup kit to remove the play? (If anything could be posted to US without tariff trauma.)

The tuneup kit is interesting. I’ll search for them domestically.

LOL. Nope. Never thought I’d say it, but I miss free market capitalism.
