Why you gotta be postin’ that shit, diff!?
I was having trouble phrasing my thoughts in the form of a question
?
It was the best I could do
?
To ignite the cloud of hate.
Nothing trumps Mrs. Doubtfire, though…

See that, he’s 13 years younger then me and faster too!
Fight back.
There’s a max train driver here that always makes fun of cyclists, over the intercom. Its really irritating and really counter productive to public transit. Shit is irritating.
What’s so bad about bikes that people gotta hate?
you guys are sensative. granted its not funny either.
vs
Yeah, okay.
oh sorry
So many things going on in that picture that are hilariously phallic.
It would be one thing if it was just the “cyclists are gay” joke, which is stupid enough just because it uses “gay” as a pejorative.
I think this kind of commentary crosses the line when it advocates violence. The fact that it’s not funny makes it hard to take it as a joke.
Especially when cyclists are already at the receiving end of all sorts of vehicular violence. This is unbelievably disrespectful to the thousands and thousands of cyclists who have been injured by vehicles (intentionally or not), not to mention those who have been killed. I have a friend who was run down from behind while riding in the bike lane of a 2-lane road, far from any intersection. The driver never stopped, just smashed her and kept going - to this day I strongly suspect that it was intentional. She was lucky to get away with some nasty road rash and a banged up bike, and easily could have died had things gone differently. There is nothing funny about this.
Iv had two friends intentionally hit by drunk dudes in their trucks all “LOL FUCKING FAGGIT CYCLIST” (oklahomaaaaa), one of which was caught and is now in jail.
Whatever backlash folks get, they deserve. However, I’d never endorse stifling anyone because I believe their commentary is inappropriate. Thus the expression, “harden up”. They’re just words. Individuals are responsible for their own actions regardless of what stupid shit they hear on the radio.
At the same time though I think listeners have the right to take action to keep people with the ability to broadcast their destructive ‘humor’ in check. Broadcasters have the responsibility to exercise some taste, and listeners can and should use the influence they have to shape what gets tossed around on the airwaves. If this were a case of government flexing regulatory muscle instead of actual listeners giving feedback, I might be singing a different tune.
Well put. I absolutely agree.
