SUPER long shot, but anyone who’s tried Kenda’s tubeless sand tires, tell me all about them on this here internet message board thread about tires
I haven’t run Kenda’s “Sand” tires, but I do run their enduro tyres: Hellkat and Helldriver tubeless. Set up easy peasy with a regular floor pump and have zero issues!
My compass babyshoe pass tires I’ve had on my hybrid have been a pain lately, when I first tubelessed them a few years ago it worked fine, a little seepage of sealant through the sidewall but it held no problem. Now the rear just loses all it’s sealant in a few days out the sidewalls. I switched to orange seal and I’m letting the wheels sit sideways in an attempt to stop the seepage but I’m about to give up. What 700 x 38-40 slick or mostly slick is tubeless and isn’t a pig.
I’m a big fan of the specialized sawtooth. It might be a pig though.
lol at “might”
gravel king slick is good, I wore out a 700x38 set and had no sidewall seepage. First actual tubeless tire I used where that was the case.
Those are like 800g tires.
If it were me, I’d give those Goodyear Ultimates that Rentable Faxmachine has for sale in the marketplace a whirl. But I’m a cheapass.
Schwalbe G One?
They ride real good though. I dunno.
Found a slash in my bon jon jovi pass sidewall today, still rode the 8 miles home on it tho:
I think I’ll boot it for now but the tread is almost worn out anyways. Which 35 sizeway should I get (not tubeless — rim is too old)? I’m seeing a 32 GK slick that’s light, spec roubaix pro is approved on the spreadsheet.
Resist Nomad 35?
wow, they still make those? That’s what I had on this bike pre-compass. Looks like they’re only 50g heavier, too.
I don’t know if they’re still making them or running through their stock, but they show up for sale on the Resist website.
This is a really good tire.
I like the Schwalbe Marathon Supreme TLE but it’s going to be about as piggly as a Sawtooth it looks like
Here’s the solution to road sealant that I’ve come up with. It’s a 4oz Nalgene bottle. I drilled the cap of another bottle and installed a tubeless stem and a length of toob. I was thinking about just leaving the valve core installed and skipping the second cap, but I’m worried about the valve getting clogged if it’s sloshing around in my bag for months. Blue 3M tape for good measure but I can’t imagine a situation where I’d need to retape a wheel on the side of the road.
Supple Vitesse ex 700c?
If you’re bringing tape you should slip some shop towel under that rubber band. I can’t imagine using tape without wiping something down.
If one had a nearly-used roll of tape it wouldn’t be a bad idea to throw that in a flat kit and buy a new roll. I doubt the roll of 3M tape I have will ever get small enough though.
Edit to say that that bottle is a nice idea and we have tons of little fuckers like that sitting around lab.
I do seriously wonder if it’s possible to improve over a boot/tube for a tubeless emergency kit. It seems like you need that even if you bring extra sealant/tape. I’ll defer to any experience here but it seems like a fucked tubeless setup is rarely fixed by more sealant.
