are you looking fo money, products, what?
i’ll be your scrap wood sponsor. all the scrap wood you can burn.
Well, just general sponsorship for an athlete. We already have “team” sponsors but very little $$ and it’s divided between everyone.
Said friend got his super expensive road bike stolen from a race (it was on his rollers while he was racing on the track) last month in Tasmania… So he really needs a road bike.
Mostly looking for a bike for him and support in the way of bike parts. But he also travels a lot and next year will be needing a lot of $$ to get to big races. Making any money track racing requires going international… Nothing here pays much.
study grant proposals, even take a class on grant writing.
research really good amateurs from the late 80s-mid 90s, some of them are now business owners completely unrelated to cycling. it’s like the thought “amateur artists are professional patrons.” at my job I will do a cursory search of our clients and have found some ex-TDF riders and other pros, not to mention guys that took bailout money and are buying top dollar shit.
hubzand of a (better than i am…for now) artist, it’s my job to research and tell her who to contact. see:love by bike cards. YOU BOUGHT ONE RIGHT?

Michael, I think you’re taking my inquiry a little more seriously than I am. What you’re descripting sounds like a full time job, not a do a friend a favor kinda thing.
Also no I didn’t, I’m broke and also I hate valentines day.
and wait, if this is this guy’s career, he shold probably take it seriously and make money earning a top priority. get an agent and shit. call up jerry mcguire. make him say show me the money. then get that money.
and spend it on valentines cards because i gotta eat here
Michael… This is why I’m asking specifically in the bike related section.
Most small cycling teams and amateur athletes don’t have agents. Nor money to invest in some kinda grand proposal… just trying to do our own shit and get something done. But myself, said athlete, and everyone else on our team - all got day jobs (at least sort of). Cycling not a career, yet.
ask red bull. they might be privy to sponsorship and they’ve got money, they’re weird about logo placement in my experience. if you want a local contact i have it.
i’m sorta in the same boat, trying to get sponsorships. i haven’t done much yet, but i made a resume and i’m going to start with product reps i know through the shop. then i’m going to contact anyone who makes something i remotely like/want - after that i’ll just try anyone.
You talked to Molly about how she got her sponsorships?
Beardsley probably also a fine lad to consult.
Yeah uh Max did hers.
Who is who I wanted help from but he’s kinda busy and shit, which is why i’m consulting a forum of experts on everything.
Also no I’m not going to ask Beardsley.
I just want an idea of what format to present the information I have. I already got the basic shit… some persuasive copy, summary of results/race resume, and some photos (need some better ones though). Just don’t know how to throw it all together and what kind of changes I should make in order to have versions to send to different types of companies. I assume I should have an industry version and something else to send to non-cycling related companies.
