It’s funny because anyone who has been around some sort of bikes other than tarck would consider 40cms pretty damn narrow.
yeah a new crosscheck is $930
but comes stock with tiagra, am I right thinking the XTR derailleur setup is a step up? also dura ace hubs as opposed to deore, etc. etc. just trying to figure out if the components on this make it worth getting used at about the same price
True. I hadn’t actually looked at the specs, and presumed it was a standard off-the-peg Surly. I’d say $900 for that is still pretty high, since there’s no guarantee about the quality of components on a used bike. $900 for Tiagra that works is a better deal that $900 for XTR that doesn’t.
It’s funny because anyone who bought bars to match their shoulder width would consider 40cm bars for someone on a 42cm frame pretty damn big.
I have 40cm bars on my Madone, but I also ride a 54cm frame. 40 isn’t ‘pretty damn small.’ 42cm is standard on most new road bikes I have seen. Sure, some may switch out to a 44, but calling a 40 ‘pretty damn small’ --unless you’re comparing it to the width of something completely unrelated like mountain bike bars-- just makes you sound stupid. Or enormous.
Are you REALLY short?
I saw this:
Pretty badass, cheaper, but maybe too big.

wow that bike does rule, wish I could ride it! I can ride a 50cm in a pinch but dismounting becomes annoying real fast
