2016 : The Year Gravel Broke
How about breaking “dirt” off from “gravel” as an elitist thing.
“Yeah I don’t ride gravel. That’s more of a flyover state phenomenon. I only ride northeastern dirt roads.”
Gravel this and gravel that. I’m sorry but actual gravel roads aren’t even the fun kind of not-pavement road. A poor substitute for the real thing.
fun police
different strokes for
No, objectively not fun. Like mud made out of rocks.
There was a short period of time in like 2017-2018 where people thought this is what they were supposed to ride and it was supposed to be fun.
Guy complained because I held a "gravel ride’ but was entirely dirt and hardpack. Idiot thought he wanted to ride this shit for 60 miles.
The local unpaved mailing list would be filled with complaints in the spring when the counties would dump more gravel on the roads. The fresh stuff was too hard to pedal through, according to them.
@Orc and @LASER_BEIGE took me on a ride once that included a freshie. It was not pleasant.
Bro I was riding 25s
If that wasn’t fun it was type 2 for me because only good memories
This was also in like 2013 which is technically pre gravel trademark
I think I was on 25 or 28 as well. Orc was probably on like 19s.
You were on your teal green coupler bike maybe? Or was it white silver? My memory escapes it was only more than a decade ago
Probably my Lemond Poprad with couplers which I sold soon after. That was a good bike. I wonder what it’s up to these days.
